Stunning effect for small rooms is a good idea, it will make forget the room is small! ;-) According to this, i would paint one wall dark (black, steel grey, night blue or dark brown) and do the same with the drawer chest. Then you can go for any headboard : neutral color fabric, plain deep red or jade green or golden fabric(this last one looks stunning on any dark wall), wood or bamboo headboard but with a simple shape if you look for a zen atmosphere , or for a statement a really oriental shape one in red or golden ! I know it seems hard, but going till the end of your ideas ( the oriental look of the curtains) will improve the curtains and the all room. Hi, some great comments. Just looking at your bedroom. I have worked with a number of projects with limited hanging space and storage space options. I would suggest considering: - Reconfiguring your existing wardrobe. Removing the storage cupboards at the top of the wardrobe and replacing with two levels of hanging space. This would involve having new wardrobe doors made but will give you double the amount of hanging space internally . You simply install a hanging rail at the top of the wardrobe and another half way down the wardrobe. If you have dresses to hang, you could install double hanging across two thirds of the wardrobe and one smaller full length rail for the final wardrobe area. Typically, we tend to have more jackets, trousers etc. As you would be replacing the doors of the wardrobe. I would take the opportunity to paint the wardrobe in a complimentary colour to the walls or contrast colour. As you have now taken away valuable shelf storage. I would consider replacing your bed with a storage bed. A model in keeping with the house in style where you can lift the mattress up to give the full depth and length of the bed to store clothes, linen, towels etc. You brass bed is lovely, but a storage bed with a beautiful headboard would give a great amount of extra storage. Do not buy a storage bed with storage drawers. This does not add as much flexibility. All the best:-)

Ikea have a headboard which you can fit behind your own bed and eliminate the bedside units gaining more space for nightstand use and quilt storage underneath. It will give you some more privacy from the window too. Eventually a roman blind would be more appropriate too. The remaining wall at the side of the window can be used for hanging shelving like the ikea kallax. Open the space visually by simply adding a larger mirror to a side wall and hang hats scarves and even coats on pegs along the opposite wall. Use the space above the entryway door for shelving or closed cupboards and fit in a corner wardrobe. If you can remove the door or get it to swing outward. If you consider changing the bed for an underbed storage one it must have a hydraulic mechanism otherwise it is a nightmare. But you can find some storage bags or boxes that slide under the existing bed - just measure properly and try to make the best of the space. Alternatively you could change the bed completely to a high up loft base with a ladder and have ample space beneath it. Check the ikea Stora and others too.

Top Recesses: I think books would look lovely on the top recess (right) - Maybe a nice Photoframe on the right top. If too deep perhaps you could store double line of books,to the back of both. Regarding bottom recess, timber will look lovely. Middle Left, perhaps large ceramic art piece? Middle Right - Depends on final size of TV and equpment but could both (TV, DVD) be stored here?
