Amtico and Karndean are very hard wearing and resistant to water if laid properly. The easiest way to Compare it's durability and hard wearing properties is by looking at Supermarket or m&s flooring, which is very similar. In terms of the colour you have selected, I think it is very light especially for a high traffic area and prone to getting mucky. with Karndean and Amtico, I think you do get what you pay. There is also moduleo (I think it's what it the brand is called) which supply LVT nd they do effects other than wood; I've had no personal experience but have seen it around. Good Luck

Hello, I do not think this sounds too out of the way. I know it does not seem a lot of tiling but this sort of work (based on a brick pattern) would take a tiler 2 days. So a brick pattern at £350 (which I am presuming includes VAT?) if you break this down in to a day rate it is £175/day which does sound about right to me. Especially if they are providing grout and adhesive!? The herringbone style will obviously will take longer to do and to me the £650 might seem a little steep but you have got to bear in mind how long it will take and maybe the tiler is not a fan of doing it which is why he is charging more!! If he is a good tiler and you have already seen some of his work then to me it is worth paying that little bit more.

Thanks Sonia and Louise. I was initially going to tile to just below the extractor fan but to ensure of no splashes on the wall, I felt I needed the tiles to be higher. In the end I went for a feature wall of tiles but removed the upstand and splashback. I've still to put some reclaimed scaffold board shelves up so please ignore the copper brackets you can see in the picture. They're sitting on my worktop at the moment.
