Kitchen Floor & Walls

last year
last modified: last year

Hi everyone,
I've recently bought my first flat and (very!) long story short, I have to get a brand new kitchen - which was never part of the plan. After a lot of tears, overwhelm and indecision, I've finally managed to plan/design the kitchen I want.

The issue I now have is what do I do to the walls and what flooring do I choose? I was going to remove the current tiles and smooth over the wall and paint it a soft mushroom-y colour, then put a clear acrylic splashback over it. Then I saw some tiles that would work perfectly but I cant find them anywhere to purchase and I've been looking at tiles ever since 😂

I have a lot of light coming into my flat, so at first I wasn't too bothered about tiling but since looking for those amazing tiles, I've seen that tiles have come a long way compared to when my mother last did her kitchen when I was a child and you can do so many clever things! I quite like the look of matt black tile going half way up the wall all the way around but will this be TOO dark regardless of the amount of light coming in?

Regarding the flooring- it'll probably be laminate of some form ('normal' laminate, LVT or SPC) but colour wise, again, no idea where to start. The flooring in the picture is what the kitchen designers put in purely for design, but I don't like it.

Any help/advice will be very welcomed!

Thank you all in advance 😊
