Hi Victoria – thank you for your comment. We haven’t considered wood cladding, but I haven’t seen it around on neighbouring houses so I doubt planning would approve that. The other option we’ve considered is Hanging Tiles to match the roof, but the builder isn’t keen and I don’t like the extra cost – although if it keeps planning happy, I would prefer it to mismatching bricks!

Thank you for that - the room is quite dark as it has a conservatory on the end - at the moment very stark as you can see in these pics - the red suite is staying, there will be a new light fitting and brass/gold sockets. I have bought a huge gold mirror for the chimney breast and the runner was going directly above the fire - it's normal wallpaper roll width.

nice extension.. 1) to get a straight thoroughfare from kitchen to the garden , you could switch the living room area to the left and vice versa with the dining to the right, this will created a straight path to the garden and give you more room...and keep your two sofas or get a modular sofa and two armchairs...or a long Chesterfield n two armchairs. 2) Change/ remove the location of the peninsula and create an island parallel to the base units on the left and simultaneously make an L shaped peninsula with the left base unit almost meeting the island towards its rear end. 1/3rd of the rear end of the island can be a floating cantilever for bar stools, the sink should be on the island approximately opposite to the cook hob area....or keep the entire island solid and keep the floating cantilever on the peninsula. the short limb of the L of the base units on the left forms a smaller peninsula. its a nice extension, you can get what you want!

Hi. You have the makings of a lovely family living room. I would flip the sofa so that it runs up the wall opposite the French door, and have the tv on the even shorter wall. Don’t put the tv too high, and paint the wall behind it dark blue, then the tv disappears. I like the rug and don’t think it’s too big. You need to get rid of all the miscellaneous stuff,and invest in some flexible storage. Give your table some room to breathe, it’s very beautiful and useful.don’t have it shoved in the corner. I think most peoples artwork is generic and dull, think about the places and things you love, and colours that you like, and then find a way to reflect that. Try to avoid having stuff that’s currently popular, it will just be filling charity shops in 2 years. Take your kids to an art gallery and all choose one thing you love. They may sell prints, or it may just inform your choices. I’m always drawn to figures, my husband prefers architectural stuff. Don’t be scared, don’t be too matchy, and don’t buy one tiny thing and stick it up high. Art should be at eye level.but hang your choices with proper respect. Introduce some texture, with throws and cushions. Please put in some plants.And keep the panelling, honestly that room needs depth.
