Thanks everyone, some great ideas here. I think I'm going to go for a big modern lamp, although the idea of a Tiffany lamp has me thinking. Adding a bold bit of colour. I won't go for a table as I think I've got too much oak and furniture in the room. Had looked at a corner unit and there are some fantastic ones around. But again it's another piece of furniture. I'm not discounting the plant idea either but will decide in the next few days. It's just strange having two sofas instead of the corner unit. I'm going to start by taking down the curtains and getting lighter ones. Will post a picture when I've finished. Thanks for all your input, it's helped a great deal. X

Thank you all for your replies. Sorry I didn't take the time to answer earlier. I get what you meant by the overpowering wall unit but unfortunately we can't move it. There's a hole in the wall behind the top part of it for all the wires connecting the different media boxes to the TV. And we had younger children at that time so we didn't want them to access it. Sometimes we had to make choices between aesthetic and functionality/childproof within our family's requirements. I know professionals would have been able to find a better compromise but at that time, we tried to do everything ourselves Your comments definitely opened our eyes, and I like the different options proposed. I like the ideas of multiples paintings/ frames, that respect the tones of cushions/sofa rather than one massive piece of art. It's really hard to visualise beforehand. Which application do you use to add virtual decoration/painting on a existing pictures please ? It really helps! I've attached a picture of my living room at a different angle (from entrance), you can see there's still lots to do to make it an harmonious! But in our crazy daily life, I'm fine with it for now, as we appreciate to have cosy family time there and quality time doesn't need hight standard finish. Meanwhile I can't stand the look of the AC unit above the window (it was there when we bought the house). But between us, I was glad when we had the hot weather last week. The living room was the only fresh room in the house and my children ended up camping in it to have a nice good night sleep Best regards to all

Love a side table so definitely a square side table. You can put a table lamps on it, a plant and some coasters.

Adding some greenery to the empty corner could indeed help soften the expanse of tile and stone, creating a more inviting and balanced outdoor space. You might also consider some permanent fixtures like a small statue or a wind-resistant shrub that ties in with the existing Myrtus planter if you don't want to opt for a larger, heavier pot. For the area on the right at the top, since it also appears quite bare and has an olive tree nearby, perhaps a couple of matching pots or as Isla said, a bench or some seating could unify the space and provide both aesthetic appeal and functional seating.
