Farm style Kitchen/Dinner interior

I need some help, am trying to create a farm style kitchen/dinner space that is homely. Our home is modern and I am trying to create a homely look and feel

I need a few tips and suggestions as to how do I complete this console table and wall? I was thinking maybe a lamp and plants?

I agree, though we had this before we moved in and just kept it, wonder if I can paint it - or the actual console needs to go? I like what you have shared here and would look perfect

Hi Mutleyz. glass splash backs are great and easy to clean. you could go for a white sparkle one adds a bit of fun but doesn't tie you into a colour. I would put roman blinds at the windows and door clean and simple in keeping with minimalist styling. Lime and teal with be lovely a good choice and lots of options, harlequin, sanderson, prestigious,villa nova, all good fabric companies you should find something there. John Lewis stock most of their ranges or if you have a local curtain maker ask her I am sure she will be reasonable making made to measure. or simple plain fabrics with a contrast border. with the dining sitting space dilemma which would get used more? are you likely to sit in the kitchen? or would you go to the living room for that? I would lean to putting in a dining table. Although you say you wont use it, it is surprising how much you will. If you have friends or family over for dinner you will need a table. If you don't have one you are restricted, if you want a comfy chair you do have the lounge anyway. and yes Cif if great for stainless steel. I use the plain one in the yellow bottle and it is the best. hope some of that helps, but you are doing great so far.

No - you posted a great thread ! It looks a lovely light room - the design is balanced and looks attractive ! Have you chosen your range cooker yet ? Some have specific guides to how close the chimney can or can't be and some have guides about items projecting over them too - Worth checking before you order anything ! English revival do a glass sided wall cabinet that might work well in the top right wall unit - might be worth upgrading to that range for your two glass cabinets, as its part of the same company so most dealers would be able to offer this I imagine. That way you will get a bit more light through . Position your window blind /Romans etc higher than the window so most of the fabric sits against the wall not covering the window blocking the light !

Voted for Floral but all of the styles are beautiful in different ways. I imagine floral style that comes with a cosy living room with lots of soft furnishings and a granite fireplace to gather around to.

Thanks Petra, I am not very good at interior design, I see a lot of things on Houzz and think how on earth have they pulled that off!! if i was to try it, it would look awful!! I would say my previous work in the other house was nice and family normal, but this one with it being quite large and for us expensive we want it to look that way and not just nice and normal but I'm struggling everywhere!! it's great if you have buckets of money but if not it poses it's challenges, not impossible but challenging. yes good spot on the architrave that is being replaced to match upstairs which is flat and about 75mm wide, it looks more modern. thank you again for your contributions it's all very much appreciated from everyone who has take time out to reply

Hello,

Do you actually need this console table there for any practical reason?

If not, just get a big plant in a nice chunky basket and you're done :)

Replacing the mirror for a bigger factory/critall style one would help too.

Switching the rug to a woven natural fiber would play up the country vibe you're going for as well.

No I do not need the console at all - if was mainly as to how I fill up the room. Factory you mean like black/

Factory style - I meant the crittal style mirror where a mirror is divided into several panes like a window.

I think your mirror fits in just fine. A floor lamp with a drum shade and a large plant will fill that corner when you remove the black console but if you really wanted to add a piece of furniture, an narrow oak ladder type shelving unit would suit and you could add a lamp and plants to it.

Thanks Betty, opted to keep the mirror as I am not able to change nor return; so whatever I do will need to be around it; the plant deft going for that option as I think will work better; piece of furniture you mean like a chair/
