Please help! style ideas..

We have recently added a stud wall in our new build property and I need help styling either side 🥴 it’s a very long room (same length wall either side, although one looks smaller in the pic) do i style both sides the same or different? And what colour mirror frames etc would look best?

Any ideas would be so appreciated!

How long are the alcoves? i’m guessing the left is 6ft but might be wrong

Depending on the length, you could go either way. Symmetrical or not. if not, they need to be balanced heightwise like the 2nd pic

If symmetrical the furniture and table lamps could match but have different accessories on the sideboard and just complementary art. Hanging consoles might work to show more of the panelling

If the alcoves are longer maybe consider an armchair, floor lamp etc in the right

Hi,

Have you noticed your lond wall looks even longer because of the wall paneling and white skirting below?

I would suggest paiting the skirting board the same colour to blend it in.

Going symmetrically with some sideboards either side of the fireplace would ground the room a little bit; There should be enough space on the right side for an amrchair with a side table and a floor lamp.

On the walls I would advice against a one big mirror - a collection of art or smaller, rounded mirrors could be a good idea so they soften the look of a wall that is now dominated by big black rectangles.

I'd expand on the Art Deco feel with the chair and mirror. Try a glass chrome coffee table. 1st is from basicelegancefurnishings and the 2nd is from shrops design. I'd have the blinds in either eau de nil or very pale pink (plain would work but preferably a pattern) as the rug is plain. team with same colour cushions for the sofa. I'd also add some patterned cushions to the sofa, maybe something with a white pattern and some texture. I'd get a console for the alcove the same height as the top of the tv and have a couple of large vases or something beneath it. I have ginger jars under one of my mine, maybe something in chrome would look good. I'd then add same size pictures and hang in either side of the alcove.

Hi Loula, I would probably start with a geometric rug in grey and white. A shape mirroring that of the chair detailing. This will also still be crisp and contemporary like the rest of the space. Cushions in white will help tie the colours throughout the space rather than just having blocks of it. A large piece of art of work in the same colours on the wall behind the dining table would really work.. maybe a peaceful seascape to add a bit of tranquillity to an area for relaxing. Finish with a few accessories on the table and beside the TV to help bridge the gaps. Grey is a great contemporary colour that will work well with the scheme you have started. You now just need a few more layers to really bring it to life. At the end, as Liz suggested, you could add a single punch of a great colour to add a little warmth - my suggestions would be burnt orange or a deep rich purple. Thank you for your help. I was thinking of putting a large bookcase on wall that backs onto utility room but I want to get the desk location right first. I just need plenty of storage and enough space to work on a laptop. I would like the room to double up as a nice reading room too I think. I was hoping to have it as an office and craft room but it's just not big enough for crafting in I don't think, and my husband likes the idea of it also being a reading room too.

Thank you Minnie. Yes it is a beautiful house and we are very much in love. With dogs, 3 kids, pool etc, we've decided not to put down any rugs in summer. Maybe can in winter months. I love the way you have styled the first credenza with artworks and lamp. Your photoshop skill is better than mine! Plant in the corner is beautiful too. One lamp on each credenza makes the best sense -- I didn't even think of that. Terracotta head is not us but I'm hunting out beautiful pottery from this region so I will try and link the themes on each -- that is what you mean non? Merci!
