Kitchen design, please help
Comments (5)I was in the same position as you & after hours of pulling my hair out & disappointment, eventually contacted One Plan, a pro on here with really good reviews, gave her my budget of maximum hours ( worked out the equivalent £ of a base unit) and she she came up with a fantastic plan that looks & works great & a full specification of positions & a shopping list too. I ordered the kitchen from DIY kitchens & got a carpenter to fit it. I can't recommend her enough - hopefully this weekend I will get around to posting my before & after!! Good luck...See MoreUtility Room Design help please!
Comments (6)Here’s a few things I’m doing in our planned utility (smaller than yours!) which might work for you: - Electric towel rail for heating so I can easily have that room heated when the general heating is off. Better than underfloor heating for this scenario as ufh is quite slow to warm up, also the towel rail can be used to dry off wet gloves, hats, coats in the winter. - Pocket door so it doesn’t get in the way of any cupboards - Mirrored splashback and handleless doors to make the room seem wider (ours is only 1.7m wide, not so necessary for you perhaps) - Stacked washer and dryer using stacking kit with pull out shelf between. I find this easier than having everything at floor level. If you want yours side by side, I would suggest raising them up a bit to save your back, and get drawers fitted underneath to hold all the laundry liquids. Otherwise, I’d suggest a slim pull out unit nearby to hold the liquids. - I will get a section of worktop made to fit over the sink so I have more workspace when the sink is not in use. - Broom cupboard organiser like this one: https://www.hafele.co.uk/en/product/pull-out-vacuum-cleaner-accessory-rack-full-extension-load-capacity-40-kg-steel/0000009e000086d000060023/#SearchParameter=&Category=W7zAqBtG8MYAAAFPNrI4lnbm&checkbox_fs_wardrobe_fittings_product=Cabinet+Storage+Systems&@P.FF.followSearch=9972&PageNumber=1&OriginalPageSize=12&PageSize=12&Position=7&OrigPos=&ProductListSize=30 - Wall cupboards! You don’t have any on your plan? I would certainly add some, or open shelves which are more practical but less tidy. In fact I’m having wall cabinets and another row of wall cabinets above them for things used occasionally (christmas decorations etc) as we have high ceilings. - We will have a tall slot next to the broom cupboard to hold ironing board and ladder. - How about a transom/clerestory window (up high) to add more light without getting in the way of cabinets? Or, a narrow window each side of the door would fit, since wall cabinets aren’t as deep as base cabinets....See MoreTime to start planning a garden design! Help and ideas please? ☺️
Comments (25)Oh my word! Dyson is adorable! so ickle!! Now I wanna find a Rune (his name - like rune stones.. not like Rooney 😂) sized box to put him in. Thanks for the 3rd design! I'm always impressed how you come up with such interesting designs (compared to my rectangle of grass with straight boarders I'd envisioned) I think we still prefer the 1st design in part because Chris want's to keep more of the grass. I'd be tempted though to put some sort of low fence to deter Rune from eating crops so maybe I could put some plants against it and growing up that to help disguise? I think the old paving slabs is the best way forward atm instead of the stones... I never truly appreciated how many stones there were just around the garden... just around on the grass.. close to the house and rubble left from the building work, random ones on the small remaining bit of patio that I think have been kicked in from the driveway... Ironically the pile of new ones all in one place are the easiest to keep him away from! (doing the driveway has also jumped up to a higher priority for the year! 🙈) Does Dyson like your Dyson? (assuming you have one) I managed to terrify him the other day when I tried to clear up some of the bits of grass we'd brought back in with us (despite having a treat at the time!)...See Morehelp with bathroom design please
Comments (9)I finally have a bathroom designer coming out in a week or so time. Already they have asked me questions such as do I want tiling all over and other details re fixtures and fittings. What is the recommendation / popular choice re tiling. Is it all over and if so do I use same tile or different in different areas? Is there a better colour tile to use to keep it timeless? And what is the opinion of recess in wall in shower / above bath? Are they practical / useful or expensive for what they are/ difficult to clean? Any other things I should consider in advance of meeting? And is there anything special I should ask for which makes it look the bees knees? And realistically does my budget need to be higher? Sorry for all the questions!...See More- 6 months ago
