I have a tiny kitchen in a tiny flat. It’s on the market for sale and I want to use this space in the kitchen for more storage. I was thinking maybe for mugs, tea & coffee to get a shelf back in the cupboards? I don’t want to spend a lot of money as it’s not long term

I’ve spent 30 years working in the kitchen industry, including factory production, quality control and customer service.

I now offer a remote kitchen & bedroom installation check for property investors and landlords who want a second opinion before paying contractors.

You simply send photos or short videos of the kitchen install, and I review them and highlight any installation or quality issues that may need fixing.

From the photos, I think your kitchen layout makes good use of the limited space available. The surfaces are clean and uncluttered and potential buyers will appreciate that. I don’t think it’s necessary to add any shelving or storage to your kitchen. Leave it as it is and I wish you good luck for a quick sale.

what will your daily eating area be? is this big enough to accommodate that? if not, you can use it as a small, informal eating area for people having breakfast or coffee alone.. if you have this small table adjoining a wall on 1 width, it will be more space efficient. you can also use this space as a work station for cooking. (have an island or some appliances)

What a statement of a window - lucky you! Have you decided what you particularly want to store? Another idea would be shallow (e.g. wall unit depth) cupboards which go right to the ceiling but don't come so far into the room and leaving your window somewhat clearer. I'm going to install a bank of such cupboards along one wall with the theory that I'll be able to see everything on lots of shelves and not have to crawl into the back of deep cupboards. I'm making mine to fit up to a beam which determines the depth of about 35-40cm deep. A high gloss finish would reflect and enhance the sense of space and I'm sure you'd find one to complement the oak. Enjoy the planning.
