Hi, will you be renting the place out for holidays? If so I would put in the wardrobe. Our last holiday we stayed in a holiday cottage and one of the bedrooms had a chest of drawers only and it was so annoying! I had nowhere to hang dresses. If people are paying to stay there I think they would prefer a wardrobe. However if it’s just for you and the odd guest you could get by with a chest of drawers if there is other storage.

Thank you very much for your lovely comments annabellaamy :) At some point I wanted to buy a new desk but then dropped the idea as it kind of worked. What I had in mind to buy was a ladder desk in order to have the storage along with the desk without this being bulky or drilling any holes in the walls. Bedside lamps is certainly something to consider for sure. If I keep both items at the side of the bed then it's certainly something to consider. I am sure something good will be found. As for shade, I guess you mean the light of the room right? That would be amazing if i could do it. Unfortunately though I only have spotlights so nothing can be hang to make it more homely. The bed does have room beneath it and guess what? It is already full with storage! hehehehe Thank you very very much for your help and inspiration. It does really help!! We will play around with the construction of the room during the weekend with my partner and will see what works and what doesn't. I will update you here with new photos of the room if we manage the reconstruction :)

Need more details and can you add some pics? Where is the front door? How do you access the kitchen from the reception room? What’s in the void beside bed2. An outside May help also.

You need to consider how big the downstairs room will be- this will dictate one dimension of the bedroom. Likely the 45degree rule will dictate the other dimension- in turn this will dictate where the corridor needs to be. And if you are ok about reducing the size of the back bedroom consider instead of doing it in order to have a better bathroom consider reducing the size in the other direction in order to create an Ensuite
