The layout of your new kitchen will depend on a number of factors, not least where the waste water from your sink, dishwasher and any other appliance that uses water, enters the drainage system. Moving any of these is not normally a problem but you may be restricted as to where certain appliances need to be positioned in the kitchen because of where the drains are. The usual method of planning a kitchen is to design the layout making sure you keep the distance between the key elements to a minimum. Having the food preparation area close to the sink, cooker and fridge will ensure you don't wear yourself out, running from one side of the room to the other. Without seeing the size and current layout of your kitchen, it is impossible to make any further, useful, suggestions. Choose your kitchen fitting company vary carefully and don't be shy in asking lots of questions, if they are any good, they should answer all your questions in detail. Hope this helps.

Hi Samantha, we would recommend an L shaped kitchen with a peninsula around one of the columns (next to the new window). This will allow for a lot of free movement space and will create a social space that will see a lot of light.

Firstly - the plan isn't the same as the perspectives... the plan actually appears to show Tall units around the angled bit, and two tall units in the corner to right of sink (which is cut into two cabinets) and then flows on with worktop over what appears to be a DW and WM (or pair of DW's ) this plan does seem to give more worktop space than the perspectives of the second plan. With any kitchen - but with an unusual shape kitchen especially - more info is usually required in order to create a kitchen that works in harmony with the rest of the home too - we often ask to see a 'right move ' type floor plan if there's one available ( as we design remotely/independently for clients - so wouldn't have seen the site ) if this is your long tern home - then I'd suggest you spending time with a designer either in person or with someone who offers a remote design service (like we do)

Your extension looks great! Your layout has a nice open feel and good flow, but a few small tweaks might help: Fridge Placement – It feels a bit tucked away; moving it closer to the cooking area could improve efficiency. Island Seating – If space allows, making it deeper would create a more comfortable spot for family and guests. Storage – A pantry cupboard or extra drawers in the island could be useful for a family of four. Zoning – Different lighting or slight material changes can subtly separate the kitchen from dining/living spaces. Overall, it’s a solid design just some ideas to fine-tune it!
