Hello everyone!

I have a really tough question for you guys. I currently have a very large headboard made out of MDF, plain MDF (my parents made it for me) which is covered with foam (so its padded) and i covered it with lovely fabric and stapled round the back.

Unfortunately I would like to redesign my bedroom so the fabric has to go, and also my cats have been after it so it doesnt look as good as it used to.

Now. My idea, without getting rid of my HEAVY headboard (its bloody heavy let me tell you!) I would like to do something very similar to that photo attached which I got from Pinterest I believe ages ago. It inspired me to a complete new different bedroom, BUT adding more proper wood, would make it SO heavy, we would struggle so much the day we move. So instead of adding wood planks (which I am unable to find round here at an affordable price) on the front as a new 'facade' (attaching them to my current one in a way that we can still remove that facade from the main headboard the day it needs to be moved without damaging neither the headboard, nor our backs!!!) I was thinking about perhaps doing the facade with laminate flooring or solid would floor instead. they are much lighter as well!

Now my question is regarding the 'look'. White washed barn look is what I'd like to go for. I dont think that i'll be able to paint or distress with chalk paint and vinegar, cheap laminate flooring (can't find one that looks like that). Or do you guys disagree? I thought I could get solid wood floor (is this heavy?) as well, as this is supposed to be real wood i'll be able to do the same to it as to any real wood furniture. I'd paint it white first and then make it looks shabby/vintage with colored vinegar.

Please help!!! :)
