Here are a couple more ideas for you to think about 1 .First one is a blind with 2" - 21/2" slat. 2. are shades with a graphic design printed on it and, of course, you would need only one. 3. Matching blind and drapery panels. 4. Decorative shade and would have companion panels. If you or someone you know is a sewer, all of these pieces can be made at home - well, except for the venetian blinds, of course. We don't have enough information to take you any further with this - we would need info about your design style, color, budget, etc. You might want to look into radiator covers for your radiator. Google "radiator covers" and you will find scads of them. It would be a nice addition to this corner of your space.

You can have both! But for a contemporary space, of course, we think shutters have the edge - clean lines, good for heat and noise insulation and easy to wipe clean so less dust. Attached is an image of what you can do with full-height doors and shutters too. What do you think?

I love your furniture! The couch, chair and ottoman look so cosy. I would add some textured throws to the couch and chair, and a couple more cushions. I'd also pull them away from the walls slightly, as this will actually make the space feel larger. The wall behind the couch is crying out for some art- it really depends on your taste and budget, but you could go with a couple of really large canvases, or a photo gallery with lots of mismatched frames? Just don't hang them too high! The lamp beside the armchair would be great standing on a side table, and I'd add another side table with a lamp beside the couch where the big box is. The room would definitely feel cosier with lamps on and the overhead lights off. For storage, I'd go for built in every time! I'm biased as I love my own built in shelves so much. They definitely make a room feel cosy and finished. I'd be tempted to build floor to ceiling on the tv wall, with shelves above and cupboards below. The only issue there I think is the height of the tv...could it be lowered? It seems uncomfortably high. If it can't be moved, then long low shelving would work better than a full height unit.

Our loft room suffers from the same heat problem. Eventually and it's not a permanent solution we opted for a portable air conditioner to suck the hot air out of the room and pump it out of an open window. We also open the door and the window to try and create a through draft, but it's not ideal. You could of course try a permanently situated air conditioning unit which would help enormously. I like the idea of the shutters!
