Step Inside a Light and Airy Home in Black, White and Wood
After their previous home was destroyed in a tornado, these homeowners in Dallas, USA, wanted a fresh start. They contacted designer Ginger Curtis of Urbanology Designs to help them create a new-build home in a relaxing, California-casual style. Ginger responded with interiors full of pale oak and white walls punctuated by dramatic elements in black.
Here, Ginger shares details about several rooms in the home, including a large, open-plan space containing a stunning black-and-white kitchen and a family-friendly living area that doesn’t sacrifice style. She also talks about how Houzz helped her design firm to flourish and why she’s now in the process of switching to Houzz Pro software to manage all aspects of her business.
Goodness, how big is this house? Stunning.
Would love to see a floor plan for this house !
I love this whole house. Gimme!
Breathtaking! Ginger Curtis is an amazing, incredibly talented designer.
Can you tell me what the lighting is at the island and also the name of the quartz in the kitchen please
Amazing! Love the canope/arches bed! Is it custom made? Where to purchase? ❤️🛌
We were visiting DFW that weekend. We are meteorologists. Driving back to our hotel I was on the phone trying to convince my brother of the seriousness of this tornado and to move to their safe location (the tornado lifted less than a half mile from his area), and after we returned to the hotel shortly after midnight we observed a weak tornado right outside our windows that moved through the shopping center across the street, and we were within the tornadic circulation.
Gorgeous
Stunning. I especially love the desk and window seat area.
Where is the bed from in the master bedroom?
Stunning!
Everything about this new build is outstanding, the furniture beautiful and the attention to detail phenomenal. How I would love to do it with an open-ended budget.
It does look really wonderful - so coherent throughout the whole house, and yet not boring. I do just wonder about all that glass - I mean, Texas ?!? Do the occupants not overheat in Summer ? Do some of them not get blinded by strong sunlight when they're eating a meal ? It's bad enough sometimes in the UK, But I would be wanting some blinds which are discreet when folded away, and yet easy to pull down and offer some shade. But lucky children to grow up with those facilities in their playroom !
Beautiful lovely style
Absolutely beautiful, never thought a black and white colour scheme with timber could look so gorgeous and stylish.
Would love it, next build we are in!
Love the kitchen ! Where to purchase counterstools?
Thank you Ginger. That’s a very inspiring story you told us at the end. We have been planning and researching for the past three years and will finally be building our dream home this year. I love interior design and am currently studying and hopefully will have my own interior design business someday.
This house you have done looks beautiful.
Has totally changed my vision for my small cottage I’m renovating! Love the black impact!
