Tour an Australian Designer’s Modern-meets-traditional Home
In this episode of Houzz TV Live, designer Jess Hunter takes viewers through her new-build home in the southern highlands of New South Wales, Australia. She shows how a galvanised metal roof, painted wood cladding and brick on the exterior conform to the architecture of the heritage neighbourhood, while an open-plan layout and minimalist kitchen with black cabinets modernise the interior.
Jess also discusses how she used oversized pendant lights and a centrally located fireplace and chimney to create zones in the open-plan living area. A polished concrete floor was ground down to reveal the inner aggregate that Jess specified herself, and which resembles an eye-catching dark terrazzo. Linen curtains and a linen sofa help to soften the surfaces in the living space.
Wow, this is fantastic, what amazing textures!
Love it! Thank you for sharing!
Can you tell me where to find these light fixtures, I have been looking for something like this for over a year. Oversized, a variety of shapes AND made from a material to absorb sound. - well done! Thank you,
Great presentation. Nailed it! Textures, color, light, sculptural elements and plants!
I love the fireplace and its placement. Beautiful home!
Beautiful and so restful. I have to ask...where's the coffeemaker? Appliances get out of hand but since I am always cooking I'm hauling them out to the counter too often. I finally added a pull down hideaway at the end of my counter which sure helps! I have to be practical...it's my nature.
I think this might be my dream home. Can I move in? <3
Also would like info on linen light fixtures
Where the heck is the refrigerator?
this is gorgeous! love how the plants complement the colours of this stunnning home!
Love the drama in this house. Couldn’t get the audio so perhaps it explained why the table was sometimes black and other times natural wood.
I love the brick out the front
really beautiful tour
Breathtaking!! Such careful consideration of how all the materials play off of each other. It also looks like an easy life house. Nothing would be ruined by muddy paws. Sophisticated choices, very stylish. I'm sure the butler's pantry contains all the functional stuff. Great design.
Fantastic great tour
I also would like to know about the lights, where to get them please?
I love the fireplace...actually the whole place looks perfect! Wonder if I can get that fireplace in the US?
Its fabulous
Couldn’t live with those pendants, the rest is great
