So Why Choose Smart Home Tech?
Whether you’re considering introducing smart home tech into your existing home, or you’re renovating a property from scratch and thinking it could be a good addition, the biggest advantage of a smart home device is that it gives homeowners another level of control. With remote access to all your systems, such as heating, water, electrics and entertainment, smart tech makes life more convenient, efficient and incredibly easy for everyone to use, which all helps in making life run a little smoother.
Smart homes also offer enhanced energy-efficiency with automated systems that can be controlled remotely to save on electricity, water and natural gas, and therefore reduce the home’s carbon footprint.
Bonus tip: Automating your home can be a worthwhile investment in increasing its resale value and attracting possible buyers in the future.

Get Started With Smart Heating
If you’re just starting out on your smart home tech journey, adding a smart heating system is a good first step as it’s incredibly easy to understand and use. Start with a smart room thermostat, which will allow you to set time and temperature schedules for each day of the week.
Once you have the main hub of the system set up, you can start introducing other smart features that work in tandem. There’s an app for controlling your heating and hot water from anywhere in the world via your smartphone, for example, or individual radiator thermostats to customise the temperature in each room, and smart plugs for setting schedules to electrical appliances.
Bonus tip: The sturdy, contemporary design of a smart thermostat allows you to display it easily on any surface that is convenient.

Key Considerations for Installation
Setting up a smart heating system couldn’t be simpler, and involves a heat hub being installed on a standard wall plate – it takes just minutes as it doesn’t require complex re-wiring or fuss. It really is as easy as unscrewing your old controller and attaching the new one. However, as this does involve dealing with electrics, seek advice from a professional installer.
When it comes to controlling your smart heating system, this also couldn’t be simpler as the system utilises wireless heating controls, ensuring all functions are only a swipe away, wherever you are.
Bonus tip: You can download the specific app for your smart heating system by simply searching for it in the app store.

Even More Advantages
If you’re already in awe of smart home heating, then you’ll be blown away by these extra benefits. The smart home system also works with voice assistants, such as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, so that you can simply ask it to adjust your heating or hot water.
With the flexibility of being able to add individual radiator thermostats room by room, you can build your smart home as and when you are ready, allowing you to perfectly tailor your house to your routine. You’ll never have to come home to a cold house again!
Bonus tip: By enabling the smart modes on your system you’ll save on energy consumption and bill costs, whether you’re home or away. These modes will allow you to turn off the system, or reduce the heat, at the best time, so you don’t overheat a house at night time or when it’s empty.

Forgot to mention they’re also quite useful if you want to help elderly or disabled people to live independently. Carers, children can be given access to the account/app giving them control of the system and the knowledge their love ones have a warm house and hot water.
Thank you bandfodder. I knew I could turn it on and off while away from home, but not the rest of it. I can't find those instructions anywhere for my system. If my phone or iPad suddenly stop working, then I'm stuck, hence my wariness of it all. Technology is not my strength.
Sorry, but there's not all that much point in having smart controls for your heating system, if you have not done the really basic and cheap things such as draught-proofing windows, outer doors, chimneys etc. (And if you can afford it, carefully insulating walls, uppermost ceilings or roofs, and lowermost floors AND making sure you have effective ventilation preferably with heat recovery - N.B. do not seal your home without ventilating it as well!) Otherwise all your expensive "smartly" managed heat will go straight out through the outer layers of your home and you will still need a lot of expensive heat. Better to get the basic fabric of your home right first before you start adding techy bling.
