I had slate blue chairs in this room (along with 2 of the rush seat chairs) up until last month. I gave the slate blue chairs and the table that matched the chairs to my DS & DIL when they moved to their new house. I hope I like the slipcovers because I doubt the chairs at the consignment shop will still be there by the time the slipcovers arrive.

What is the blue option in your last photo? That is my second favorite. While the blue and white is pretty, I do not think it is the best option for your dining room. Reply to: Trash is trash - if it isn't in good condition I toss it. I check with friends and family first and then donate anything that is still in good condition. If it is a particullarly nice or expensive item I will give it to a young woman I know who earns some extra cash through online sales. I never ask for any of the money from the online sales - just like to help her when I can.

Ten years ago we researched doing this with our unfinished attic space and to convert an attic to accomodate heavy bathroom fixtures plus furniture to code was twice as much per square foot as adding an addition. Meet with an architect then bring the plans to GC’s for bids. We asked for two sets of plans, one for the attic conversion the other with a side addition. We saved over 100k by adding an addition instead of finishing our attic.

Reply to: I'd look first. There are a lot of electronic upgrades and some of them are good, some are just more complex. I looked at a lexus convertible and didn't like it at all. I didn't look at acura as I've heard of all the reliability issues with them. I also looked at subaru and genesis and audi and mazda (4wd was a requirement for me but not so much for you in FL.) So I ended up with a BMW 330 xi. Very happy with it. But it took over a year to find the right car. Now with the tariffs I'd hurry up or wait.

Reply to: I think a darker wall color might give you a brighter feeling ironically. Right now your walls, cabinets and trim are close but not quite right so it reads dulled down . I would either go true monochromatic matching the walls and trim to the cabinets or I would add a blue grey, green or brown tone to the walls and a creamy white to trim.

Reply to: It's been a number of years since I've had any household cleaning help but my experience was similar to yours with different people over quite a stretch of time. Pointing out things that were missed resulted in either attention paid to those things but short attention elsewhere or a one time more inclusive cleaning that diminished right after. Although I don't consider myself obsessive I am picky. I don't love cleaning my house but I love a clean house and have never found anyone with my attention to detail, long term. I also expect reasonable care - don't bang the vacuum into baseboards, don't spray mirror cleaner on the adjacent wall - that kind of thing. In the end, it was never worth the money after the busyness of a full house changed to empty nesters. I would grit my teeth and put up with because it was off my plate in that season of life. Also, this was strictly for cleaning, not housekeeping - no laundry, no bed making, no cooking.

Reply to: Maybe look at moving the 2 chairs in the living room to beside the TV/console. You can easily place one chair on either side of the console facing the sectional. Swivel chairs would be best so those that sit in them can turn towards the TV. Then place one of the desks facing the wall where the chairs previously were. Then you could center the bed and place only one desk in the bedroom. It might work and make things more doable for you guys.

You can always sell it and if you lose money consider it money well spent to enjoy life while you can. The profits are far less than the yearly taxes would be. the taxes on the Crown estate would by in the billions not millions. William and kate are tax exempt and although william will likely follow in his dad’s foot steps they have never paid any taxes on income nor property btw. Reply to: Thinking about how to functionally achieve this, I might be inclined to take a lid-less basket with a nice looking base, and cut out one of the long sides. That way you can just slide it over the microwave and back off again. If you can get one with a handle like your pantry picture, that might be easier to grasp. Will it bother you to have to take the basket on and off when you use it? And have to find a place to stash the basket during that time? That's what would bother me the most. That and my husband would never do this and I'd end up re-basketing the microwave anytime he used it.

Reply to: A garden shop near me used to have the most interesting ornaments that I never found any place else. I think the owner back then traveled to European Christmas markets and stocked the store from there. These days, their decorations are pretty, but readily available elsewhere. I don’t know who designs for RAZ, but I’ve liked their designs for a long time. Those ginger jars are an unusual size for ornaments and could enhance a certain sort of tree.

Reply to: @foodonastump, my son and his partner bought a Beko fridge during the pandemic, when their fridge suddenly died and nothing else of quality was available. It was recommended by the salesmen in the high-end independent appliance dealer. They’ve been very pleased with it. The fridge has many drawers, which they find very convenient, and it fits a lot. Beko is well known throughout Europe. Been around for years. The company is Turkish.

Reply to: My and my family's hardest battle after stroke induced aphasia was letting go of who I was and accepting my new life. The desire to be as good as I was pre stroke was in reality hindering my growth. After accepting who I was is not who i am today and who I am today will not be who I might be tomorrow I found myself accepting and this led to gratitude. Just ok, a return to enjoying food, smiles, a love of music and being surround by loved ones might not seem to compare to all your mom had and was in the past but it sounds like a perfectly pleasant place to be in the moment. I hope her appetite, singing and smiles continue to bless her days.
