Reply to: Hi Alan, we used the same doors from for our little study. After the decorator had painted them & we removed the protective film from the glass we saw that the paint had bled into the inner frame. Unfortunately there is no way to remove the glass to paint the inner frame so that section will always remain untreated & ours looks worse because of the paint bleeding. Such a shame because from afar the doors look great....just don’t inspect them too closely! When we queried it with the decorator he said the film was there to protect painting errors whereas the big shed said it was there solely to protect the glass & that the decorator had used too much paint on the brush. Argh....

Reply to: My suggestion is birch ply formica. Real formica is amazing stuff. I got a sample and tested curry paste, red wine etc and all came off without staining. I also kept putting a really hot pan on the sample for about a month and it didn't affect it. It's pretty pricey for formica but you do get the lovely stripey edge and crisp square profile. It used it in my utilty room (pictured). I ordered it from Baldwin Plastic Laminates, much cheaper than going to a kitchen company. http://www.baldwin-plas-lam.co.uk/

Reply to: In our utility room we hid our monstrous boiler inside 2 stacked ikea carcasses then covered with tall doors. We ordered a birch ply worktop form Baldwin plastics (much cheaper than going through a trendy kitchen place) and we love the end result. Kitchen also ikea and very pleased with results. However, if you use Ikea kitchen, source your own fitter and be prepared to pay well as it make all the difference. http://www.baldwin-plas-lam.co.uk/
