The importance of images. With all the various parts and assorted pieces that go into any remodel, it can be hard to imagine the end result. “But when we show a 3D rendering of their project, it helps clients visualize it and get excited about it,” Ibrahimov says. “How the kitchen island is shaped, layout, colors, materials — it’s all exactly what they’ll be getting.”
Process-oriented. Ibrahimov started his company to merge his passion for design with his business background and MBA education. As a result, he loves watching tasks being completed and checked off the to-do list. “It’s about seeing the progress and watching it getting closer and closer to being done,” he says. “The process is really important to me.”

1. Be Open to Ideas
Communicate your wants and needs clearly to your remodeling team, then also consider what they suggest, Ibrahimov says. “At least listen, even if you don’t use all of their ideas.”
The owners of this Clarksville home had an empty basement they wanted to remodel, particularly with a place for their wine collection. Ibrahimov’s team came up with the concept of a room full of custom maple wine racks, meticulously temperature-controlled and tailored to the clients’ bottles. Barrels act as tasting tables and tumbled-stone walls recall old European wineries.

2. Dial In on Specifics
Think about all the nuances of how you live in a space, such as how you cook in your kitchen, Ibrahimov says. “Be as detailed as you can; that way, your designer can customize the job to fit you.”
For this Baltimore home, the owner wanted a contemporary look with an open island where the cook could both be part of the living room action and enjoy the harbor view out the window. Ibrahimov’s team created a sleek island that overlooks the whole space, then angles 45 degrees at the end toward the view. A small area tailored to the owners’ coffee machine and blenders is tucked next to the fridge.

3. Look at the Big Picture
After you’ve made clear your vision and decided on the details, step back and be patient, Ibrahimov says. “Wait for the final vision and renderings before making up your mind.”
In another Clarksville home, the owners had asked for a modern, airy bathroom but were nervous about their decisions. Ibrahimov’s team had come up with a glass door that could either slide in front of the frameless shower or in front of the toilet. Though the owners kept worrying about the idea, they eagerly approved it when shown it in renderings. “Now that it’s completed, they love it,” Ibrahimov says.
