Alice Clare Studio

Alice has worked for me on two projects, one a complete refurbishment of a two bedroom house, including new kitchen, bathroom and cloakroom. The other involved updating a 20 year old house including bathroom fitments, electrical and drainage work and improved storage. Nothing was too big or too small to consider. Alice was great with advice on home interiors and was happy to consult on framing and hanging pictures. On the two bedroom House she planned all the work and found trades people in the area including plumbers, electricians, painters, roofers and sash window restorers. She coordinated them and was regularly on site to overview them. Her attention to detail was first rate. Again on the second property Alice worked with enthusiasm and professionalism even on the boring projects. I am highly delighted with all the work she has carried out for me over the past three years. I would have no hesitation in recommending her to carry out small or large projects. I am hoping to use her again in the future.

Alice has made every inch of our tiny barn conversion work brilliantly for us. Her designs were imaginative and also very practical. She knows exactly where to be generous with space (for example she recommended making the stairs wider and less steep which was definitely the right call) and where we could squeeze in extra things (for example she suggested setting a lovely big sink on top of the side-by-side washing machine and drier in the utility room so we could fit in a full sized shower room through a sliding door). We had some really challenging spaces, including extensive areas of restricted height, steel beams, odd shaped walls, huge windows and a stove flue which are no longer problems, thanks to Alice. Alice sourced almost all of our fixtures and fittings, from the exact fridge-freezer we needed, to wall mounted taps and fitted under-eaves drawers that simply swallow up our belongings. It's really noticeable how much better the things she helped us choose are than the ones we picked ourselves. She couldn't find us the perfect bed, so she made it - and it really is perfect! I have worked with Alice on more than 5 projects over the past 5 years. She is a very skilled and professional person to work with and has a lot of practical as well as design experience. I have seen Alice solve all sorts of problems for clients, both at the design stage and the delivery stage. She is very good at drawing out exactly what clients want and her design solutions are really creative. Her clients and I rely on her to make sound recommendations and she is not afraid to give honest but tactful opinions. As a fellow professional I have a great deal of respect for her input.
