What colour should I paint bedroom fireplace and wardrobes?
Comments (16)Hello Nicola E, How you treat the paint work entirely depends on what you want to stand out.. The fireplace or the wardrobes.. This too depends on what else is happening in the room... If just a bed then it's entirely possible to create a feature of said wardrobes by painting them a bolder colour or the chimney breast a darker colour.. Look at the room and consider what you'd like to have as a focal point and how big the room is.. Shades of cream and off whites are far nicer than white.. So if you decide to include a white scheme, definitely look at shades of off white and creams.. Little Greene has a lovely range of chalky colours.. such as Whitening, White Lead, Stock etc.. These can be chosen for wood and walls.... They give a warm, chalky and sophisticated look which can blend beautifully with colours such as Celestial blue or James just to talk of blue and these are warm not cold blues .. I also like Juniper Ash which is a slightly mauve colour but look for warm versions of a colour you like.. So if the fireplace is to stand out and the wardrobes are a pale creamy colour the accent and focus is the fireplace which will benefit if the room is smaller than you'd like.. If you have a large bed then this might be the best way to consider it. If the room is large and you want something to create a statement then consider the fireplace and wardrobes.. A shade or two darker for wardrobes than chimney breast will create a frame surrounding both the fireplace and for the bed if this is facing on the opposite wall.. Blend the bedding and cushions, should you choose them into the scheme to create a cohesive and stylish finish. Lastly if you want a pale room with painted wardrobes these will form a statement and frame if you have less in the room... : )) Blended.... Contrast... This one isn't a bedroom but you get the idea.....See MoreWhat colour furniture in bedroom-grey walls, black curtains, black bed
Comments (8)Hi Suzie, could you perhaps do something a bit out of the box and choose something that is a splash of colour? Like a found object? Chinese ceramic stools? you can also go to vintage fairs etc. Or some companies source and stock interesting pieces. This is one : http://www.retrouvius.com/stock/storage I think more grey would be dull, more black would indeed make the room feel too small. I quite like the idea of timber for your chest of drawers etc. Difficult to visualise the space thought! Colour choice is pretty personal. I am partial to blues and purples.. but that is just me! Go with your gut! Good luck!...See MoreWhat is the middle of this wall?
Comments (10)Thanks for all the comments guys! Unfortunately I don't have enough cardboard to make a big enough cabinet! However I just watched a Youtube video where you can get photoshop interior services on Fiverr. I'm going to give that a shot! @minnie101 I have taken a new picture with the floor So there is a bit of space to the floor. EDIT: Oh I just re-read what you said, you meant having the floating unit under the plugs. And then covering the plugs with those pots. Yes I think there is too little space underneath for the floating shelve! But I think I might just go for a normal unit and then cover up with some decor! Probably the best idea. @1sandyh Really, moving all those ports (electrical, ethernet, Satellite, USB) will not be that difficult, is that true?! Thanks...See MoreWhere should the bedroom entrance door be for optimum room layout?
Comments (7)thanks for this floor plan. I think what you've stated is a good idea. having no doors in the hallway wouldn't look odd at all, I've been in many houses that have their doors to a far end of the corner. I think it's more of if you did intend to have that door there and move your optimum bedroom layout to the opposite side, it depends on whether you were needing sockets also nearby if you say had a table lamp that you wanted to have on your side tables? electrics and lighting would also be what you would need to think about too if not already. you would still have the issue of the window. I have 2 options below: 1. Maybe a customed L-shaped wardrobe at bottom right corner just by where the door would go (depends on how much storage you were thinking about and the size of the wardrobe of what you feel is needed). 2. The bedroom layout being on that bottom wall, same wall where the door currently is and you have a large wardrobe on the right wall going along so that you still have the window exposed and not being blocked if that makes sense? I know you have the ensuite door also there also but depending on how deep the wardrobe would also be would indicate how much walking space and window may be slightly blocked if you place it too close to it...See MoreMaria Be
