Susan Lake Lighting Design is an award winning architectural lighting design consultancy, specialising in designing independent lighting schemes for commercial and residential projects. Led by Susan Lake who has over 15 years of design experience covering a range of projects from around the world. Having worked on many luxury projects we understand what is required to achieve a very high standard of design quality. We offer a considered, integrated approach to lighting, working with interior designers, architects and clients to create imaginative, inspiring and cost effective designs. Our main objective is to create beautiful, concealed lighting schemes that enhance the space and bring architectural features, textures and finishes to life. Above all else we strive to create a considered lighting scheme that our client will appreciate and enjoy.

It has been an absolute pleasure working with Susan with our house renovations over the last five years. Susan has always been extremely professional which is what you would expect at this level, but what has impressed us is how approachable and friendly she has been throughout the process. Susan has a very practical approach and has a "can do" attitude in problem solving when issues arise with the build. She has a wealth of experience and product knowledge and I would definitely say that our house would not feel or look as good without Susan's expertise.

Susan helped us create a fantastic lighting effect during the refurbishment of our Georgian home. She really knows about lighting! As just one of many examples - she sourced terrific subtle spotlights which remain the best we have ever seen in any domestic setting. More generally she developed a comprehensive lighting plan that ensured every room in our home has a mix of lighting options, from "bright" through to "cosy". It has made a huge part in the enjoyment of our home. Would highly recommend Susan - she is a thorough professional.

We have used Susan Lake for the design of the lighting of our recently built House Boat. There were particular needs to not only create an impressive atmosphere ( both inside and outside ) but also to ensure that the power consumption was kept to a minimum - as this House Boat is designed to be Carbon Neutral ( or nearly so ! ) Susan Lake was particularly helpful in sourcing competitive suppliers for a somewhat complicated overall lighting installation.

I commissioned SLLD to provide a lighting scheme for my Grade A listed apartment in the Old Town in Edinburgh. The particular design challenge was to highlight a long, quite dark hall with a barrel vaulted ceiling. The SLLD solution exceeded my expectations with discreet floor lighting complimented by clever illumination that highlighted the Victorian ceiling features. Overall the apartment has been transformed with the lighting scheme. SLLD provided a highly professional service including a large dash of creativity.
