I like the lighter wood stains. Funny, I had pickled maple wood cabinets in my kitchen in Miami - 30 years ago. The kitchen I have now is on the shady side of the house - so I'm happy with my white cabinets - I like keeping everything light and bright in a kitchen - for seeing easily on work surfaces.
