Hi - what kind of lighting did you use in the crown molding, and what is the gap between the ceiling and the molding?

Did you paint the trusses to give the illusion of an 8ft ceiling? -
Ceiling looks like it's only 7 feet high. Why was this the option you went with rather than raising the ceiling or digging out the room?
