Thanks all!!... yes, I will wear darker jeans. I do have black spanx but they are heavier -- too heavy for 90 deg/humid weather. I do have a pair of cotton EF side zip pants that might work but they have a wide-ish leg so I'll have to try them and see if I look like a bag lady in loose top and wide legs.

I appreciate the input -- for the past few weeks, I have had some anxiety over dressing. I am in a phase I am feeling a bit like a troll lol ... and also my options are dwindling as I lose weight and try them. I really dislike seeing looking like I am swimming in an outfit as much as I dislike one that is clearly too small.

ETA Pricklypear, I love that dress! It will look spectacular on you ... I also like the shoes with the thinner straps (#2) and bonus that they don't pinch anywhere!

I would go for lighter colored shoes like the model. I would probably look for soft gold. I've had some luck with some soft silver shoes lately (from Lifestride and Naturalizer).

My weight and size has, unfortunately, fluxuated up and down numerous times over the years. I usually keep a variety of sizes so that I have clothing as my weight sadly, inevitably, changes. And I am rarely perfectly on trend and tend to wear what I like even when it may be slightly out of style.

I have a couple pair of barrel jeans and really like them-you have to be built just right for them to look good, so they aren't attractive on a lot of people, IMO. They do not look good on short people-I am right on the cusp at being 5'4" and I am very picky if a style does not look good on me, I won't wear them. For instance, the baggy, longer shorts that are in style right now-do not look good on me, because they hit below the knee and they look horrible on me. Too bad, because I really love them on some other people!

I liked skinny jeans, but they are very dated now. I got rid of mine.

I know better to even attempt barrel pants, and I never wore skinny jeans for the same reasons. I can look at them and know they are just not going to flatter me. I don’t care if boot cuts are in or not, that’s what I wear. The best jeans are my jeans that are about 20 years old, Levis, Gap, etc.
