Most of these ideas are really good. However two design ideas that have always been an issue with me are the trash drawers and the paper towel drawer. My hands are usually wet, and or dirty when I am reaching for a paper towel, and the same for trash. I can’t stand the idea of touching handles constantly with dirty hands and constantly needing to sanitize. I prefer hands free trash receptacles, and paper towel holders easily accessible.

@Kerry Tracht - I am also surprised more of these designers don’t mention toe-pulls. We put one on our trash drawer and use it constantly!

Took a major back injury to realize how inaccessible a typical house is. If I’m looking at purchasing or remodeling a home: wall ovens only. Drawers below, cabinets above, with pull out drawers. Cabinets only high enough for a simple short step ladder that can get you within reach. Anything else requires Fire Dept assistance. Or, a 911 call. I disagree with heavy things in bottom drawers. No way can I lift anything heavy if it’s not at waist level. Toe pulls are an excellent idea. Push and release doors, soft close drawers are good. Anything below waist level has to be manageable like cleaning supplies, towels, cords…anything that I can use a grabber with or if I have to lean down, it is with the assistance of a sturdy cabinet door or hardwear. Getting off of the floor is now a challenge. No pull knobs or hardware that have corners to catch your clothes. That type of hardware apparently comes with a self-guided transporter system that grabs your sleeves or pockets and instantly jerks you into the ER.
