Is it ok not to have splashback in cloakroom?
Comments (31)I never, or should I say my husband, hasn't, got round to finish tiling behind the wash basin so we used a 'washable wallpaper' and it drives me mad everyday. It never ceases to surprise me how much toothpaste, soap etc gets splashed against the wall and no matter how much I wipe it, it always leaves little marks which are impossible to get off without damaging the surface. If I could, I would tile every last inch of the bathroom. A quick spray and wipe and it always looks clean. I feel like I'm doing an indepth scrub constantly and it still never looks quite as pristine as I would like...See MoreTiles, splashback, or another solution to tiling under a sloping sill?
Comments (18)The tiles will be covering the areas coloured light blue on this plan (the white and dark blue will be covered with panelling). Have narrowed it down to three tiles which will fit without too much faffing/cutting: Lucy - a 15x15 tile, though not sure if I should stick with one colour or do some kind of mix with the blues and white. https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/bathroom-tiles/lucy-tiles Rhian - a 10x30 tile. Again, it comes in a selection of blues and grays so I don't have to stick to the one colour. https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/rhian-30x10-tiles?product_colour=14%2C22#scroll-js Illumina - a 7.5x30 tile which also comes in blues and a gray. https://www.tonsoftiles.co.uk/illumina-wall-tiles/colour/blue-grey.html My current favourite is the Illumina as the finish looks lovely. I would have to apply the tiles vertically along the worktop by the sink though, as trimming 1-2cm off several 7.5 width tiles sounds like a recipe for lots of broken bits... Any thoughts on tile selection/orientation please? Had a play in Paint at some possibles....See Moreindustrial glamour Splashback ideas
Comments (85)@pma - yes I thought about the silver side and although it looked better (guess because of all the silver in the room) it kind of drained the wall? Made it feel colder? Weird. I got a bronzed brass sample from the metal sheet company and before I painted the wall, you couldn’t really see all the colours in it (just looked black) Then after painting, all the bronze and colours popped out of it so I’m getting a price. Will be something we will have to save for as it will be super expensive ie probably over £600 so we are going to live with the painted wall for now and add the shelves etc then see what we think :0) Going to get some gold toned hanging lights as they might just lift that area without it being too much....See MoreKitchen Glass Splashback BAD installation??
Comments (12)Did they make a template of the wall? or take detailed measurements when the worktop, upstands and wall units had been fitted? I'd want it to go up to the underneath of the wall units as you say, then seal it with silicon to the wall units so no steam can get in. If its their measurements then its up to them to resolve to your satisfaction. Does the receipt show the actual glass measurements or the size it should of been to fit under the wall units. Personally i think the fitter could see it didn't fit properly thats why he was asking you if it was ok and you were happy with the position etc. Trouble is it will be a nightmare to remove the glass and it will damage the wall when they do it....See MoreJelena Bozok
