​If you have access to a power socket in the room you could look at some kind of plug in pendant light which you could hang from the ceiling over the dining area.  You will have to ensure you have enough cable to do this and think about the neatest way to run the cable from the socket. We have this tripod lamp in our lounge and have 2 ceiling lights but have no idea what fittings or lampshades to put on them.
