Will try to later as I'm at the office right now. We are redecorating the whole room though so can essentially work from a blank canvas. Room is square, good size, with bed on back wall facing big window. I just wondered if there are any new fancy designer style lighting on the market at the moment, just something better than a ceiling lampshade!

Hi, Having a single light may not give enough light if both partners like to read. But if the room is for just you one light may be fine. I wouldn't worry too much about having 2 the same often interior designers will have different styles either side of the bed. Having said that make sure there something in common between them, either the same colour of same shape or from the same family. For example this little wall light below (which is great value) could be mixed with the matching table lamp. It's great to have a different look where the room is an unusual shape or when you like symmetry but can't have it. Alternatively you could have something very different like the lamp with a natural shade and wooden base. having different lamps either side of the bed can add a little individuality to the room. Choose something that will mask the bulb when you’re looking at the pendant from underneath (ie in bed). Habitat also did a larger size, they look quite dramatic but give a nice soft yellow light, perfect for a bedroom. When it comes to light fixtures, larger is almost always better.
