What a beautiful room! I tried to find some banquette seating that was modern - unfortunately none of them have a layout similar to yours, so use your imagination! You might be better off with just a bench as I wouldn't want you to block those beautiful windows. I would also add an island - something simple and sleek and probably something on casters, so you can move it out of the way if you want to. Do you have any lights in there? I can't see any! Get the other furniture first, but you could have a pendant light over the dining area and then have another fixture that is above the island. Be careful because you don't want something that casts a shadow behind you when you are working in the main part of the kitchen. Good luck.

In an earlier post you said you were having a sofa and TV in the room too. I'm having an extension built and my kitchen will be a similar size to yours. I'm hoping to fit a dining table and sofa in the room, however I can't picture the space at the moment. I'd love to see a photo of your kitchen with the sofa and tv in it as it would help me with my layout.

Thank you very much for your comments. Yes I agree regarding the fridge but I have looked at putting in the bottom right corner of the plan (in fact we still can). Am hoping to knock the wall on the right hand side into the dining room in a few years and there is currently a lovely old dresser in that space at the moment. So don't want to put anything too permanent there. Also where you suggested the fridge could go (next to the sink I believe) is where the dishwasher is. Plus a under counter fridge is not big enough for my hungry family unfortunately! Also can you believe that the quotes I've had for Quartz are more expensive than recycled glass!?!?

We had a similar problem. Had two rads and two plinth heaters, but they weren't working properly and we were freezing. Had the plumber in and he adjusted them and now we're toasty in a matter of minutes. Get one plinth heater put in and plug in a small electric coal or log effect stove ( cheap enough) to bridge the gap. If your windows are thermally bridged have you thought about contacting the window installer to complain , about the problems you are having? The builder, too , as he should have ensured your extension was properly insulated. The suggestion about thermal lined curtains that pull right back during the day is spot on as it will help insulate the room and the kitchen will be warmer in the mornings to come down to. Finally the door is essential as both the hall and front door area are most likely sucking away any warmth from the kitchen area, especially if there is a stairwell. I now think if I was doing mine again I would dig up the floor and put in underfoot heating but this is way too disruptive to consider now. Best of luck.
