Where do the couches go?

Sorry in advance for the mess. Three children are off so everything is all over the place! I am really struggling on the layout of this room. The boxes need to be packed away ( we have just moved house)

Hi, it is hard as effectively you've only got one ŵall! Have you tried the small sofa in the bay so where the armchair and tv are now? Would the tv go to the right of the fire or even over the top? It would mean losing the armchair though, will it fit in a corner of the dining room? Or maybe angle the small sofa between the bay and corner of the fireplace, move the bookcase where the packing cases are and put the armchair in that other corner. Or would you consider blocking access to the dining room through that door? Will the small sofa fit on the rhs of the dining room?? You obviously can't move the table as the light is centred

If you remove the doors to your dining room, you can keep your sofas where they are, and bring the arm chair forward and center it by the bay window (but not against it). Whilst this seems counterintuitive for space, it might give a tighter cosier seating area, but more breathing space around the room. You would have to turn the armchair to watch the tv though. You could then add a small table by the bay window with a vase of flowers to draw the eye out

Hello Tom, Well I have to call my cat Bob to her spot on the bed..... which is half of it... Otherwise she wakes up in the middle of the night from the chair in the living room and wails.. if not the wailing... She creeps like stealth to hurl herself onto my back...purr in my ears in the middle of the night with claws a plenty.. ......... Or...... I get a face full of whiskers and an aroma of red salmon, flaked tuna and kibble... : ))

Your place is lovely and welcoming. I would suggest putting a large mirror above the sofa facing the garden to reflect back in some light and the lovely garden. Your TV wall looks great (accent wallpaper could be indeed a lovely add on but I wouldn’t hand anything) and I agree with you putting a table between the sofas (round and height of chair arms taking up the full space) with a nice table lamp in the corner would be lovely. People can put their cups and glasses on it. If I might suggest a colour that’s not wood such as red or white it would break up the wood and make everything pop. Great job, really nice 👍

Hi! FIrstly - i LOVE the colour of that chimney breast wall!! I think you could be right on looking for an accent chair under there, or potentially a leaning thin mirror? With an antique brass sort of framing to it, to tie in a couple of the accessories I can see in the room already! A mirror would also reflect the colour of the bedding/statement wall, so help to carry the colour over to that side of the room as well! Then my suggestion would be to look under more 'dining' style accent chairs (Made.com do some bright velvet styles with arms etc) that could tuck into your dressing table area! I run an interior design service, and we can work remotely, and do packages for little projects like this, where there is just a small change around and a few new pieces of furniture and accessories, but we would be able to source the items for you, and also draw up a 3d image of how this could look for you, before you make any purchases/decisions! Do you have any other dining space? Just wondering if you could swop the rooms around the put your sofas in what is the current dining room, it looks lighter and easier to fit your sofas into.
