Hi All, We would agree with what the others have said, if you had an extractor fan before you will need to replace it. Also there are so many amazing options for discreet looking extractors we're sure you;ll be able to find one that suits. http://www.airuno.co.uk/slimline-classic-wall-cooker-hood/ You may need your builder to create housing for the ceiling extractor out of plaster work and add some down lights to it and it can look really well! http://elica.com/GB-en/products/hoods/easy http://www.falmec.co.uk/Products/COLLECTIONS/E.ion-Collection/Twister-E.ion Or you could go for a suspended recirculating extractor which looks more like a design feature? We hope this helps, The team at Modus Kitchens

Hi Anisha, with BORA you can recirculate or duct to the outside. Ducting is the best for taking the smells away but!!! & its a big but our recirculating systems are very good. I am 100% sure you would be very surprised at how they perform in taking the cooking odours away & cleaning the air.

Novy is excellent as is Bora. Novy panorama rises when activated but I think Bora is flush. I have Novy Panorama not Bora. They are both exceptionally efficient as they are close to the source of the steam. They are also pricey. I would be worried about a ceiling mounted one catching enough of the steam as it rises. It depends on how you cook and what you cook. I always cook with closed lids so do not have much of an issue.

I should have mentioned I used to be a kitchen designer. For Indian cooking, extractor hoods need high suction power—typically 1000–1200 m³/hr—to effectively handle heavy oil, smoke, and strong spices. The hood should ideally be installed above the hob at a height of 750–900 mm, depending on the type of hob. Since you have both types of hobs (gas and electric/induction) gas hobs, the maximum height should not exceed 760 mm. If your hood is wall-mounted, keeping it within this height is important to ensure optimal removal of grease and odours. Brands like Bora offer excellent vented hobs. Additionally, considering your distance from the window, you might also explore downdraft hoods as an alternative solution. Maybe you could have both? A vent near to the hob and also a hood? Double the power.
