Hob with built in extractor fan

I am considering to get a bora hob with a built in extractor fan but i am unsure if they are good at getting rid of strong smells? as they recirculate…

We are a family who love to cook so the hob will be used regularly

Is it not possible to duct to outside? If you are worried about strong smells the best option is an extractor that ducts to an outside vent opening. What type of food are you cooking? You need to increase the ventilation to clear the cooking odours.

Hi Anisha, with BORA you can recirculate or duct to the outside. Ducting is the best for taking the smells away but!!! & its a big but our recirculating systems are very good. I am 100% sure you would be very surprised at how they perform in taking the cooking odours away & cleaning the air.

Hi Loubrad, The fan you are after is a telescopic fan. They come both 600mm and 900mm wide. I would always sell the larger format fan with a 800mm/900mm induction hob to limit condensation as much as possible. The brands I would normally sell with this layout is Bosch and Siemens. my thinking was the table could be pushed flush with the island the majority of the time leaving a gap to walk past of approx 140cm. Thats with a 110cm gap between island and units, 90cm island and 90cm table. Or if you rotate the table and have it pushed with one end against the island, a 120cm table would sit 4 and leave 110cm to pass which is the same as the gap between island and units. If it was an extending table it can be rotated 90 degrees on the rare occasion more seating is required. Yes, it would mean it would probably close off that side of the room but if it's not a daily occurance? Some compromises will have to be made if you really want to fit everything in that space unfortunately.

Thanks for the comments. I will have MVHR system in the house so hopefully that will act as the extractor. I will need a recirculating extractor whether its on ceiling or in the hob. Benefit of gas over hob is more a personal preference. we like the Asian cooking better on flames instead of induction.

Could you help me understand how I can duct outside if the extractor fan is built into the hob? Is that a possibility?

Yes the motor is built into the hob, Just underneath the glass. The ducting comes off the back of the system & then goes into the floor or plinth or wall ....whatever is required to exit the building.
