Help picking a bathroom light

Hi All. Having my bathroom retiled and renovated entirely as we speak. New window sill in Nero Marquina, dark grey alu window frame, floor a spotted grey marble brick tile (rustic looking), coupled with light beige two tone brick tile (also rustic looking natural stone) for the walls. The sanitaries are floating plain sink and toilet from Ideal Standard. The ceiling is not high so I need something flush or semiflush. Struggling to find something that fits the decor and is stylish and economical at the same time. See here for the pic of the floor from the tiles company, we have also had it laid in a herringbone pattern - same as the photo.

I have in mind a very simple design for the bathroom but still stylish and not boring and plain! I have thought of crystal light bulbs, like this one, for contrast with the natural stone, but not sure about the combination!

Hello,

I have collected some images for your inspiration. If I am not mistaking you have a traditional style bathroom? Seeing the beautiful floor you have got I think you have a couple of options:

you could go for the lightbulb you have found that looks very pretty, you could go for a lovely chandelier, pendant lights , integrated lights also look well.

I very much like the lamp on the second image from the top!

Its a relatively small modest modern bathroom - I advise you keep it simple with a subtle natural looking stone or marble effect porcelain tiles (not dissimilar to the vinyl you have now but maybe a bit lighter) which will have the effect of looking light, easier on the eye. It will look more spacious and will provide a classic and enduring choice you will not tire of and will be more saleable in future. in my humble opinion your attempts to bring North or South Africa into your modern home would be a mistake. Don't mean to offend I assure you!

Ceramic or porcelain tile will do very well. Laminate can "puff and die" inside of 6 months! I've seen it. It isn't pretty. The closest you will get to "click together" flooring = 100% vinyl flooring. The vinyl is water proof...the joint is not. There is still a chance that moisture (water or humidity) will reach the subfloor and begin to rot it out from underneath the floor. Be safe = ceramic or porcelain tile properly installed. I think you can work with a cooler tone in the bathroom. One of the design benefits with bathrooms is they can have their own "presence" in a home. They do not need to be identical to the rest of the home. They can carry the theme...but they are allowed their own flare. Go with something that is visually interesting. It can be a breath of fresh air if the rest of the home "all one look".

Front hallway- I say save your money leave it up. Cost of removal is minor but you will likely have to move radiators and electrics and make good plasterwork and coving- I say protect another £1500 profit. Present the larger back reception as a living room and present the front reception as the dining room. Given that the bathroom is likely to go upstairs make the downstairs bathroom into a room to access the garden- I would present the kitchen as a kitchen/breakfast room with doors to see the garden as being able to see from the front door to the back garden should pay dividend.

This might sound a bit oddball but how about a vintage tall corner cabinet for storing towels, bottles, etc. Just think that if you went with a small cabinet you’d have the same issues that you’re having now. There are lots of styles which you can pick up second hand for next to nothing and you could paint or varnish to how you want (this is just an example: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rustic-Tall-Corner-Cabinet-Shabby-Chic/253999560281?hash=item3b238db659:g:dasAAOSwRhFbo1mG ). I initially thought of wallpaper but think it will look too busy all over, how about getting a sample and putting into a frame for artwork. I saw this pattern (see pics) and thought it would look great with your decor, thinks it’s called Flying ducks by Mulberry. Also added a pic with idea for mirror over the sink.
