Hi yes that helps to explain it. Originally our architect planned 2 small lanterns then we considered 1 large lantern. Now we are having last minute thoughts about having 1 or 2 flat roof windows! Our extension will be 4 metres deep but fairly long. The majority of the extension is facing south east. We are fortunate enough to have open plan views to the south east and we are not overlooking neighbours in either of the other directions. However on the south east facing wall we were thinking of having a thin but long slot of glass which would be near to the top (as this will be the kitchen area) because the area is not nice enough outside to incorporate a sliding door or patio area. So to the north east we are thinking of a sliding patio door (in the 4m wall) into our garden, and to the south east as much glazing as we can, to give our kitchen and dining area a great view across the countryside. Does that make sense?

I would suggest Timeless, or even White Mist for this. White Mist has a less yellow undertone when compared to Timeless, however this colour unfortunately does not come ready mixed in our Endurance+ finish. This would mean it would have to be made up at a DIY store or at one of our Decorator centres. Going for slightly darker grey tones such as this, will then provide a fantastic backdrop for a statement mirror or a piece of artwork, which will really zone your seating area. I agree that the door wall would be a great place for the grey to continue over, and you could even flow this along the wall which will house the kitchen units too. Although this may seem like a large amount of grey, your beautiful large ceilings and remaining walls will be in your chosen off-white colour, which will retain a light and airy feel. I think that you are right to keep the walls which have windows as the off-white, as it will allow the lovely grey frames to stand out. Hi, Sometimes constraints are not real. Please reconsider each of your perceived constraints in turn. For example if a window cill is too low to put a kitchen counter in from of it. Then consider actually putting the kitchen unit in that place, but have a step down beyond the counter with a decorative backing board (seen from outside). Likewise reconsider each and every space in your home as the possible location for the kitchen... best wishes

@Wumi thank you taking time out for commenting. Answer to your queries: How do you currently use the your ground floor rooms? BKG: At the moment we spaced out! Meaning - my son normally in the front room ( PS4/football). The three others just sit in a line formation in the lounge. In Lounge we tend to use two seats ( highlighted red for most use and up to blue to very rare use). I think because it feels like we are in a narrow corridor- not a great family experience WD: How would you like to use them? (What would you like to achieve with the reconfiguration) BKG. I think a quote that I saw on this site sums it perfectly; "I like the house but like love it as a home. On paper the house sounds fantastic, but ground floor is not functional in terms of experience. Having a room long and narrow everything we purchase has to be clinical. With narrow long lounge, when we have guests its not functional, at times people seem to stand in in the wall between the lounge and kitchen. Not a great experience I like sitting in a square formation which i feel enhance the interactions. Wider/squarer rooms, I think brings so many options WD: Is there a wall between the kitchen and lounge? BKG: Yes a wall between Kitchen and (through lounge/extension at back). P>s the Kitchen ceilings or of a different height (due to a previse side extension) WD: Where is the front entrance?
