After two years of perseverance and huge challenges finally this beautiful antique room size old tribal Beshir rug was restored to its original condition. This rug is amongst one of the most sought after tribal Turkmen carpet and was made around circa 1900.

I agree - some good warm lighting and soft furnishings to the room (perhaps some Metallics and mirrors to bounce light around as well) would look fab. Our old lounge was small, dark & North facing and I went all in dark & moody with it in blacks & greys. Only difference is I added more mirrors and a splash of colour with the cushions.

I think that the fire place is beautiful as it is and does not need any make up!! The sideboard on the right is no so big at all and if painted with different colour than grey and distressed could become a much lighter piece with its own character. I would take the top off the left one and again shabby chick it, filling the doors with ornaments to make it more interesting. It is amazing what a transformation you can achieve with a bit of chalk paint! Thanks OnePlan, love the space, very similar to a room we have, ours isnt as grey, wish now it was... Just realised your in Dorset as well.. may have to use your professional services soon, we have a decent sized house but it just doesnt work, lots of room but hardly ever use half of them.. think its time to knock a few walls out and reconfigure stuff a bit...
