Hello Tani I agree with Kikiamack with regards to the length of the screen, I was advised a minimum of 1.2m of glass to stop water coming out and a minimum size of 1.7m for walk in shower. I was originally going to have a walk in shower of 1.7m x 0.8m with a 1.2m of screen (0.5m gap for entry ) but then decided to have an enclosed shower instead of 1.2m x 0.8m. It's still very spacious. I know walk in showers do look great but if the screen is not long enough and water comes out all the time it will annoy you every time you have a shower. I went for the Crosswater Design sliding door shower enclosure with 8mm of glass. It has a frameless look, soft closing door and price is reasonable. They probably have a similar hinged door version. With regards to the towel rail, perhaps a small one that doesn't stick out too much, would be useful? Are you going to have any recesses in the shower area to put shampoo, shower gel etc? Where is your lighting going? I made the mistake of not doing research as beforehand and just asked the electrician to put 4 downlights in evenly spaced, now I have a very annyoying light shining down on my head when I stand by the basin and in front of my mirror - very unflattering as it creates shadows, luckily my my mirror has lights.

Hi Lydia. We have the same ikea drawers but in white, here’s what I did with shelving/display (see photo). Originally put the shelves this way so our cat had somewhere to jump up and get away from the dog but he doesn’t use it so it’s just somewhere I can display my girlie pretty things:-) Hubby likes to drape his clothes everywhere as well and I’ve not found a solution yet but I’ve got some ideas which I’ll add in next comment.

Thank you for taking the time to comment :) Sorry, I completely forgot to mention that the washer and drier are going in the utility which is to the right hand side of the kitchen (created from a bit of the old kitchen as utilities are currently in hideous conservatory that's going and has added benefit of meaning the shower room comes off the utility not kitchen as it does at the moment). I completely agree with you on the curved end units. Hubby was keen so I put them on but already decided no just didn't remove. I did wonder that about the corner unit. I was going for symmetry but function is way more important to me so I'll go bigger and then I can put a le mans in as I loved the one I had in our old house. I already have the problem you mention in current kitchen so appreciate you picking up on that.

Thanks Sarah; I considered those options but not keen on a wall of coats in direct line of sight when front door is opened. Also, front door opens against the wall opposite porthole window and right next to it is a side panel adjoining door into hallway so a mirror there probably won't last long especially with the zest my kids push open the door 😀 What do you think of a rectangular arched mirror to the left of the porthole window and staggered coat hooks to the right?
