Considering all of the upcoming changes you mentioned and the fact that you can't change the Roman blinder on the door, yes, in my opinion it would be too much to add similar blinders in terms of colour on the windows. The door is also seems quite a statement. I would suggest to wait until you change the colour of the walls and take it from there. But if you really need to cover the windows as then I would recommend something very neutral such as a variant of white or linen bright grey. Again it depends on the dynamic of the whole room and you don't want to make it too stuffy.

Hi Daisy Yes your husband is correct, it's a floating mullion. Sorry for the confusion! We decided against a fixed mullion as we are wanting to do something similar to this photo. We weren't asked which way we wanted the windows to open - does your husband know unfit is an easy job to transfer the floating mullion to the other side? Many thanks :)

Love the view. I think 2 down the middle would look quite bulky. I think 1 long pole with a curtain either side is a really nice idea, especially if you put some pictures or something down the middle, making it into a kind of feature in the room. :)

Minnie, you have impeccable taste, everyone on Houzz agrees so don’t even try to dispute it! :)) Ikat is another great option, I’ll add it to my list. I’d visited a couple of curtain makers and had one come around to measure... While I am now more clear about either to have curtains or blinds in whichever room, choosing fabrics is still a struggle... I came home with some 12 samples books and only managed to confuse myself even further. Andrew is good at telling me what he doesn’t like/want, but when I ask for a decision between 2 options, he just says ‘whatever you want’ even when I had just finished telling him I can’t choose... Sorry, rant over; I think I am becoming less adventurous than I used to be and it frustrates me...
