Hi, I looked at staining my own tbh with a water based grey stain. I could have had it v pale or darker depending on how diluted I made the stain. (I can dig out the details of it if u want to go down this route) Otherwise there are readymade flooring in grey tones depending if you want laminate, engineered or solid wood. Colour wise, I'd go for a mid tone that's not too pale and not too dark. As long as the floor has different tones in it ie with wood, you see all the knots etc, then it will hide more dirt. My parents have white floors upstairs (washed oak effect) and you can't tell what is dirt and what is the 'wood'! I've also had v dark floors and they were a nightmare to keep clean. Every spek of dust showed up on them.

Most welcome Melissa, The thing to concentrate on is what they can offer.. Best thing to do is look at their website.. This will give you some indication as to how specialist they are.. Also speak to them about what you're looking for this is really important!.. Prices and options are key.. I love concrete but it's not for every client.. So these 3 suggestions are based on my selection as there are many more and I cannot personally give you any recommendations for those 3 sorry but... it might help you to get an idea of their differing approaches.... I would not let this put you off making some enquiries.. I usually tell by the level of experience and talking, plus looking at how varied a company is.. I am very very picky and have been in a position myself where I've gone with lots of reviews only to find out they were awful and actually didn't know how to do the job.. ! Kindest, Amber : ) )

Have you thought about using paint to create some feature elements on your wall? This way you can introduce your favourite colours in the room while creating some beautiful décor. Porcelain is vastly superior to ceramic. I would only use it if you wanted a really streamlined sharp looking finish. Rectified tiles are a lot more pricey, but the finished effect is incredible as the grout lines can be reduced to an absolute minimum I would never buy unrectified as I really dislike a lot of grout on show. This creates an almost slab like effect. They are very hardwearing and very difficult to crack if you buy the high quality ones. I have had them in two minimal kitchens and bathrooms and cannot fault them. Super easy to clean too. A steam mop is all you need. I would never choose a shiny tile purely because I think that look is more for shops than individual houses. You will need a very good tiler and think about sizes as it is not so easy to cut. The larger the tiles the better if you can. You can get them as large as 1200sq. You can slip on any kind of floor especially laminate so I wouldn't even consider that.
