What colour floor goes well with a High gloss White Kitchen
Comments (11)If you are working with white and grey already I think it would be good to introduce some colour warmth via the floor. An engineered timber floor would be warm underfoot but if you have underfloor heating them perhaps some natural clay tiles treated with boiled linseed oil. This looks beautiful and is warmer underfoot that normal glazed ceramic tiles but does require occasional maintenance, not unlike a timber floor....See MoreUv protected walnut floor
Comments (0)Dear houzzers, I would love to have an engineered walnut floor running throughout the hallway, kitchen and living room but I'm worried it will fade near the bifold doors as we are south facing. Is it possible to get uv protected walnut or is there some kind of coating I can put on myself to stop this from happening. I realise that some form of blind will help but I don't think this will solve the problem ultimately as the blinds won't be drawn all the time. Any help greatly appreciated thank you x...See Morewhat type of wooden flooring for this exact kitchen?
Comments (18)@queenofsuccess - I'm getting a better picture now, so we are looking for something that would keep the design in the contemporary brackets, but with a good dollop of homely warmth right? How about if you had the cream tiles around the kitchen area only, so from the white cabinets to the island, then from the brown ladder units to the island too and around it, so that the stools are on tiles. Sort of like a pavement, that would clearly separate the clean kitchen area from a nice hardwood floor in the rest of the room? In this case I would choose the colour of the wooden floor to contrast with white kitchen and cream tiles, but also to work with the walnut ladder units. I know you said your husband would like something light and I can totally understand him there. Light colours would definitely make the room brighter. When it comes to warmth I would suggest a nice oak panel, something along the lines of this: It is quite a challenge to make your idea work flawlessly. We have white kitchen units with near white worktops, part of the floor in cream tiles, walnut kitchen units and you want a fairly light hardwood floor to bring warmth into the room. I think that the only way to solve it well, would be if you could provide as much information on the final decor you want to achieve, the size of the room, natural light sources (i.e. windows, doors etc.), so we can try to find a best fit that will blend in with everything and work for you. Why don't you e-mail me at office@blackoakbuilders.co.uk so we can start putting some mood boards together and collaborate on ideas a bit closer?...See MoreIs a Walnut kitchen too dark or outdated???
Comments (7)Hi Angela, we have a dark rosewood kitchen. I looks very rich and solid. We kept plenty of light flowing around the kitchen by having light worktops and floor. white reflects much more light than any other colour ( even pale cream ) so we went for a white ceiling and white wall cladding . Lighting is very important in the kitchen and your dark walnut cupboards will emphasise your light coloured worktop. you may consider fixing lighting to the underside of your cupboards to really make your work surface the focus of attention and more subtle lighting on the walnut to emphasise its sophistication. ( also green, any herbs you might want to introduce into the kitchen, rich dark brown and white are a great colour trio)....See Moredart_man
