Help! Porcelain tiles outside - facts v fiction
Comments (11)I have had first hand experience of light coloured porcelain tiles . I have 2 patios. They were laid incorrectly - the fall was too shallow . This means water stands and won’t drain. You MUST make sure the fall is right both cross and longitudinal and that there is somewhere for the water to drain . Thankfully the designer and gardener have agreed to redesign and replace 25 sq metres at their cost but it’s all been very stressful. Aside from that the tiles are filthy as the dirty water just gets walked in. If we had to keep them we’d have to karcher every day just to keep them clean. If I were you I’d send them straight them back and get a porous stone . Suffice it to say we are having the whole lot replaced with porous stone /grout/gravel and planting to take up the water. There are lots of u tube videos about how to lay this stuff but in my experience you need someone who has laid a lot of it and I think they are few are far between My advice - don’t touch it Good luck...See MoreHelp with tiling query pls !!
Comments (8)I would just cut the bottom tiles, it's common to have your cuts on the bottom and your full tile at the top. You could also consider an up stand instead, less tiling and cutting. You could even consider acrylic cut to size in a colour of your choice and make a feature of it, it may look nicer than a half tile. Are you planning to cut the unit down on the right? I presume it's a slightly taller than average unit, which is why the work top ended up a little higher than you want. We're tall and hate our work tops 890mn , we're stuck with our kitchen now, but in future would have higher ones. Our Utility is much higher as we have American Machines, perfect. Everyones' different!...See MoreHelp! Bathroom Tiles/Colours
Comments (5)Thank you so much - yes it seems that most go for a white look with the black so perhaps we need to consider this and add colour in other places! I like the blue above though that's nice. And perhaps it's more about going for a herringbone style or hexagon to make it feel a bit different with a white/grey tile....See MoreNeed help visualising tiles? This may help!
Comments (5)I’ve seen some gorgeous morrocan wall tiles at Topps Tiles as I want to update my kitchen a weeny bit. I’ll try it out, but I already know they will look amazing simply because I love them. If you get that feeling then you know it’s the right choice for you. 😊...See More- 9 years ago
