Kitchen refurbishing
Comments (17)We are just deciding on how to split our budget of 'as little as possible' to make our kitchen liveable for next 12-18 months before we gut it and completely remodel. Obviously we want to spend as little as we can as everything we spend is money we can't spend on the rest of the house renovation. Our problem is that many of our units are in very damaged / poor condition due to a leaking sink, we we will also need to replace. There is also hardly any storage. - we can't have (cheap) open shelving because our naughty cats are ninjas and like to climb and knock things off. Any advice or tips would be appreciated. I was thinking of either getting a few basic ikea units, and a large dresser off gumtree or eBay - or trying to pick up an entire kitchen second hand off eBay and painting it?...See MoreHelp needed for kitchen refurbishment
Comments (2)Personally I would love to see a house plan in order to see how these spaces relate to the rest of the house and garden. If you are seriously thinking about taking down walls it might be worth thinking about if the kitchen is going to stay in the same space if windows and doors might be changes for the better and how you get to your garden. My observation so far is that the kitchen is a cut through from the dining to the utility meaning that the long wall opposite the window can't easily be fitted and this would be the obvious place for the tall items like the fridge. It seems unnecessary to have two tables in the space. There is no obvious route to the garden, the utility room seems dark but the total space seems generous which gives loads of possibilities. Lastly you seem to have specified the practical things like the dishwasher and fridge but you should think about what you would like to be able to do with the space........ For instance- think about if you want a room to socialise in or to keep an eye on small children or room for hobbies or work? Lastly whereabouts do you live and do you know your budget? perhaps someone can recommend a kitchen showroom near you....See Morerefurbishment project need help
Comments (6)With things like the kitchen, bathroom and layout you will need you builder to quote for the work but if you haven't already I would recommend you get a designer or space planner on board at an early stage to make sure you get these key areas designer correctly for you and your space. As well as helping with trade discounts, an interior designer would be able to help with the styling, flooring, heating and over all design of the space helping to avoid costly mistakes down the line and making sure your project is thought about as a whole from start to finish - ending on budget and to dead lines. Choosing a designers it's more about personality. You want someone who can convey you and your needs and style so you need to click with your designer and find someone who can help you do that whilst being on the same wave length as you throughout your project. I hope that helps. All the best, Gina...See More1885 property - need quality refurbished original cast iron radiators
Comments (4)Hi Wendy, we stock a large range of cast-iron styled radiators that could perhaps help you out. I understand that the original cast iron radiators are quite expensive, but the newer steel designs offer great outputs, are relatively inexpensive in comparison and look the part too. They may not be the ideal 'original' style, but they will help you to keep costs down upstairs and still provide adequate warmth and period styling, plus, we offer extensive guarantees on all of our products. Check them out here and see what we could do to help... http://www.bestheating.com/radiators/traditional-column-radiators.html Good luck with the project. John...See MoreArtichoke
