En suite decor help

Hi. I replaced the shower enclosure with a glass one, tiled it, fitted new basin and vanity unit, toilet and fitted a towel warmer and new vynolay. The rest of the walls are painted Ivory Cream. I part-tiled a section around the basin but not happy with it. Problem is there's no wow factor. Your suggestions for maybe colour, additional tiling perhaps or other ideas would be most welcome. The room is 1.60 x 1.70 metres.

A nice shelf or a colourful picture on the wall above the toilet could look nice..also a plant and some candles on the windowsill..towels are another way of bringing in colour..good luck!

Could you continue the tiles that are to the left of the sink down to the floor? It looks a bit unfinished now.

I agree that it is unusual now to find a new house without one but I think if you have space to put an extra shower room elsewhere so that you still have more than one then it should be okay. Ideally somewhere not far from the master bedroom. Also like the suggestion for you to put in all of the pipe work etc so that it can easily be added later. If you dont get round to it upon resale then atleast there is less work for a buyer.

Thanks for the comments. The bathroom is next door so we can feed into the soil pipe there. The wall where toilet and sink are in the plan above is an outside wall. I don’t think there’s really much else we can do given where it is in the room etc. I’ve attached a plan of the upstairs - you can see the bedroom (with previous small shower and sink. I am aware of not having enough space for knees which is why I think we need to go for a 700 x 900 shower tray and a short projection toilet to give us those few extra mm. I think Sarah’s plan would work? We’re going to draw out some stuff on the floor in there today now that it’s all ripped out and use a chair for a toilet to visualise it!

Don't know if this would work for you, as you've tried bedroom 1 & 2 what about using bedroom 3 and the extension as the entirely new bedroom and en-suite with a stylish walk in wardrobe to get to the en-suite? The master bedroom would be narrower but with a bed at the window end and plush seating at the other either side of the walk in door it could look really nice and save a lot of messy building work in the original house. Either that or if you skip the en-suite and use say bedroom 1 just repurpose the space left for a walk in wardrobe.

What a wonderful thread this has been ! So many great ideas, and much imagination ! In a bedroom setting, I think a sliding door into the en suite would be a perfectly acceptable solution - especially if it means the wall wouldn't need to be as thick as for pocket alternative. The beroom is the better part of 15' square, so with the bay window, there is plenty of room to accommodate Jonathan's first design. Loads of storage along the 'back' wall, too. One thing is puzzling me about design 2: why do you need 2 doors (one into bedroom and one into dressing room ? Have I missed something ? I'd prefer to walk into the bedroom, I think - so the door could be moved a little further along, to take account of the width of the wardrobes. Gives an unbroken run of storage in the dressing area.

Thanks Carol. My thoughts too but was originally going to tile the whole room but was stopped by the boss which I reckon was right. Was going to tile to floor and include two tile shelves so I will go ahead and finish this.
Also intend to continue the tiles from under the window to the corner plus an edging. However I don't like the edging so will change for another design.
