Help redecorating my dinning room!!
Comments (24)Hi, what period is the property? I would be tempted in see what's behind the plastered chimney breast where the fireplace used to be. Where the fire opening is. You may discover that theres some nice bare brick that just needs rendering or the original fire back. Get a period cast iron fire surround off Ebay (very affordable) that will fit the opening and place a couple of candles in there. it would add more character to the room than a blocked off fireplace / lifeless chimney breast....See MoreHow would you design this bedroom? I want it calm, cosy & bright :)
Comments (36)Gone through my album of our very own decorating therapy journey and found these. I hope you can see the roller black-out in the first photo, it's tucked inside the recess of the window. The Duette is a peachy colour which looks a lot lighter colour in the north-facing sun. The one in the five panel window is the room below, it does not have the roller blind but the curtains are black out. They are not as efficient in blocking out light as the roller in recess though. the curtains are from Hamilton McBride, only reason i got them were because not many wide (350cm) curtains are cheaply available on Amazon... If your room is not too cold, you can also consider wooden venetian, mine is in white colour as you can see from the 'blue room' (it's F&B's new Vardo btw), which is on the ground floor of the north facing side. 247 does oak colour too. Many neighbours asked us where we got those from!! They look great at a good price - those two windows cost me just under a £100 - but they are not the most energy efficient. They are okay blocking out light but if you have it in the south-facing room, it might not be quite enough. Do go to 247blinds and request some free samples, it's worth a try. Hope this helps! ;)...See MoreInspiration for my kitchen/diner
Comments (16)Thank you for your suggestions, I appreciate your advice. I am going to switch the sitting/dining areas around and I like the idea of having the end wall as the feature wall, with either wallpaper or artwork. I hadn't considered arm chairs facing each other at the far end, I like that idea - there is no TV, to be honest the sofa was initially something just to fill the space but because of that, it looks out of place. I love the idea of the colours being greys, duck egg blue or sage - if I could do my kitchen again, I would change the black granite worktops to wood and change the tiles to white or at least something much more calming than red. I think this is where my dilemma stems from - the colours in the kitchen are too dark and I'm trying to counter that by making a calmer space at the other end of the room but then I'm concerned that it won't all work together!...See MoreCurtains for guest bedroom
Comments (13)I like both of Carolina's choices, they appear to be linen which I'd also go for. i was looking for a close up of the colours of your wallpaper and came across this ready made moodboard! I also like the idea of a ticking stripe and the sand fabric (on their website it's shown as mustard) is quite nice for cushions. Forgot to say the room looks lovely and very calm :)...See Moredean_co89
