Kitchen walls

I have cream units and black granite work tops, there is a lot of wall, what Colour should they be.

Hi there,

What colour are the walls currently? Do you prefer neutral or bold shades/colours? It would be great if you could attach a photo!

Need to change Colour had green previous, would like cream but getting a warm Colour is hard .

If you have white it doesn't have to protrude, it's better to have it fitted than free standing because free standing can look messy especially if you have more than one, I mean messy in the way that you have lots of different size units and they are not seamless with the walls, something that is seamless looks less imposing. If it is white it won't compete with the other alcove unit. Get some inspiration on our site here: Shelving examples And here: Media unit examples And here: More media units Otherwise what AJ says is great because it is low cost and uses what you have, I would paint/upcycle that dark unit too, and add a very clean minimal desk, maybe glass or something or even just a single floating shelf in the corner.

Hi. Personally I like the look, maybe not for everyone but it can give a feeling of space. I'm in the middle of painting literally everything in mine the same colour and now I've found the first pic it will actually look quite similar in style and colour! What style and colour of kitchen are you having? Are you having a splashback? if so what colour etc as it can break up the space ( I have tiles which will be coming off although I don't mind the ones in the 2nd pic). My kitchen is very old hence makeover no.2 on a very small budget but there are so many paint colours other than white you could choose if you weren't sure about painting everything the same

I would choose something very close to that deep red/rust/plum (can't quite work out what it is) in the granite. It looks as if that colour is also in the tea towel on the right (hanging on the handle in front of the oven). Everything else is so light I think the room would take it well and it would give it wow factor. You need a warm colour, as someone else has said, to tone with the cream of the cabinets and the granite.

Combine the living room and kitchen by taking both walls out and going open plan. Then as previous comment add a door to the hallway for separate bedroom wing. Just doing the kitchen wall will feel odd and make it like a corridor.

I'd try to colour match to a shade that's in the flooring. Pine has yellow / pale orange undertones, but obviously sits very nicely with your units. I think this would brighten certainly and still go more down the subtle, seemless look

This is probably not helpful or the response you were after but I absolutely love the colour currently! Not only do I think it works well with the cabinetry and floor but it's also a little different to most neutral painted kitchens!

I agree with Man About The House - isolate a paler shade from the flooring and match it on the wall if it's a cream colour you want to paint them :)
