Need help for wall colour
Hi everyone. Please help us to choose the wall colour as we are not very happy with the existing yellowish colour. We have light grey laminate floor all the house except the bedrooms which is dark colour. We like calm, modern and cozy style. Which colour we should choose for the hallway, living room (light grey floor) and which colour for bedrooms (dark floor). Thank you so much guys

I like your flooring, it's beautiful!
For the bedroom I would go for a pastel blue paint, it's very calm and it helps with a better nights sleep too. It would look brilliant with the dark wooden floor and it would also match your lightwood wardrobe colours.
For the hallway how do you feel about a pastel mint green? It's fresh, happy and it cheers up a small functional space with not too much furniture in it. Just make sure you choose a balanced colour that isn't super bright.
For the living room you could go for a neutral colour or white, depending on the style and colour of furniture you have, then you could add pops of colour with art work, fabrics and accessories. Alternatively you could opt for a light pastel salmon(ish) pink paint combined with a matching geometric wallpaper. I attached images to illustrate what I mean. I think this would complement the light grey floor quite nicely.

Thanks a lot for the recommendation.
In the hall way, we have Oak staircase and Oak door as you can see from the picture so I think the pastel mint green may work. Although I am quite like grey shades. I don't know whether it will make the rooms too cold?
In the living room, we have red sofa, white coffee table and a walnut TV self, double door oak and 2 separate dark navy doors to the terrace (2nd photo) so I am thinking of using the same colour with the hall way/white colour for this room as there are so many colours going on and one dark colour for the wall feature behind the sofa . Do you think it would be a good idea if I choose the colour for feature wall the same as the one of the doors to the terrace? And should I limit the number of colours for the whole house? I'm concerned that if I use so many colours, it may cause confusion.

Comments (660)So funny! I'm planning to paint the bannister at the new house (TNH) black and am veering towards painting the treads and risers black too... I've been searching for images of black staircases on Houzz and putting them in my entrance hall ideabook. They are few and far between. In your case, I think, with your white walls, maybe the stairs white and the bannister black? (Assuming the white walls continue up the stair walls enabling the b/w contrast.) You've already put black firmly into the equation, adding some more may give more reason for the black rad cab. In my case, there is a very off-centre radiator that could so very easily have been directly opposite the front door in TNH which is rather annoying as it stuffs up the focal point. We are leaving here with every radiator covered with a cabinet - and going to TNH that has loads of radiators ...but no cabinets! Yes, the work ahead is daunting - especially since the area of Ireland we're going to is very basic and not full of DIY resources, etc. I keep thinking I'll paint TNH white - to make things simpler(!) Comments (27)Update - alabaster painted oak units, oak worktop, (curved end units and worktop corners) belfast sink, 1100 stainless steel rangemaster porcelain large high gloss ivory 600x600 floor tiles, ivory grout - please see attached look book just still to decide on shade of sage on walls - deciding between F&B Mizzle, Vert De Terre, Ball Green and Cooking Apple Green... Also metro sub/way tiles on walls - whether to go for a sage tile or cream/white... The dining room area off the kitchen will have oak parquet floor which will follow through from hall and will also be in the lounge but Im thinking of following the wall colour in the kitchen through to the dining room for continuity and potentially painting the chimney brest or wall furthest away from and facing the kitchen a darker green complementary colour... Comments (26)Thank you Minnie. Yep, paint colour in the hallway is Purbeck Stone. The room faces North East. Perhaps muted colours would work better with the room flow. The problem is we just hate the way the colour looks behind the mirror at the moment. No idea what it is because it was on the walls when we bought the house. PRO9 years agoHi Coba, looks like you have a fab house! For the hallway, we would be tempted to paint the walls a crisp white to match the light tones in the flooring (see below for a project we recently worked on) or you could even go with a patterned wallpaper perhaps something similar to the below?
