The beauty of paint is exactly that it can be touched up if there are any imperfections over time. Touching up would most likely only be needed after a number of years so I would suggest that might be the better option. However I doubt the dog would cause either too much damage so you are left with the worry of the oak colouring over time which is likely.

As a rare freebie ... We've had a look at this for you. Given that we don't know your exact location - we have designed this to be in line with the UK guidelines for safety. If you aren't in UK then please have this checked by a local designer to double check it is complicit in your region before you proceed with any order etc. If you swap out your radiator for a myson kickspace hydronic (or similar) radiator under sink (and providing window ledge high enough) we worked out you could safely fit a kitchen layout like this in - with a freestanding chopping block or prep table on the wall under the artwork (or could be a tv ) ... given the wedge shape of this room it would be prudent to have infills to the ends of the runs - as we have done. This allows you a standard sized FF, DW and cooker and a 400mm pantry cabinet or pull out. Together with a mix or drawer and cabinet storage. Dependent on the type of boiler you have you may be able to conceal it behind a furniture door (as long as you keep it ventilated ) We've made sure there's adequate room to cabinets and drawers to open in their designated spaces, as this can be a problem with curved or angled rooms. If you take your sized floor plan and this to any reputable dealer - they should easily be able to work out the sizing we used as it's all standard ! We suggest you shop around ! Please do not go with your earlier post placing a tall pantry cabinet directly next to the gas cooker as this is a fire risk! If you take the 290 unit off the back run and island, I think that would be sufficient? As you've got kids I think a banquette seat would be ideal for family games, homework, crafts etc. Banquettes are around 60cm, table 90cm so that leaves 113cm which I think is more than sufficient both visually and practically as it's the same gap I have behind my kitchen table. Choose chairs that push under and consider the table legs carefully depending on the number of chairs wanted, pedestal tables often work. I would however take the sink off the island and maybe install a prep sink instead so the back run would be DW, sink, bin, induction hob (I'd integrate the oven personally). Is the shower room a must? It seems quite a trek to reach there with the number of doors unless there was a way to extend the 2nd front door forward and create access from the hall there. Also wondering if you'd considered removing the wall between snug and the old kitchen? It may make the area more useable rather than trying to fill the old kitchen

Just reading the comments and suggestions on here shows the capacity for lots of variations possible for a design in this size of space. Have you considered investing some time working with one designer - who you can work with to produce a layout that ticks your boxes and then shopping around with the finished plans - (this is the kind of service we provide ) it may be a bit less confusing than several people ‘having a go ‘ - although it’s always great to get others opinions on Houzz, and of course it’s lovely that they are offering you this help at no cost. But might be worth considering, as you will be living with the results for a long time!
