Tani I really love your cabinet it adds so much warmth to the room with the dark navy and I don't feel it clashes with your floor at all. I like your animal skin rug but perhaps a larger one in Tan and creamy white would help pull the woodwork, metal vase and floor together and give it nice balance. Not sure what colours you like but you could try some velvet or textured oranges with the navy as the tones are similar to the wood and then add some neutral beige or cream with it. Have you tried your mirror above your new cabinet it may help the balance with the TV one the opposite side. I feel a mantle peace will make a difference in white or antique white. Then add a canvas or painting that has all the tones you decide on in your room with some strong accent colours like the orange with the greens and yellows from your other rooms that will tie the two together. What ever you decide on I'm sure you will have fun. Take your time and good luck, most of all have some fun with it.

We need much more information. How big is it? Where will it be located? Is there power near it so you can put a lamp on it? What's your style? Pictures would help a lot too.

Thanks Jonathan for the idea the thing is I could do with the storage and I need to hide the ugly cables and switch box. The black console table and mirror will be moved to my living room the sideboard is only 5 cm wider than he console

Hi Alison, Do not despair, this is a common issue for customers, looking to bring warmth in to their homes and you are spot on, adding a warmer less harsh oak floor will really work and achieve this for you. To give the rooms more classic look the Pyrenees Herringbone is a great choice!! Due to the grey wallpaper you might want to look at slightly darker oaks so again its not so much of a contrast, the Smoked Pyrenees Oak which you can just see in this image has been paired with a dark grey wallpaper and lighter grey couch. Another option we would recommend and have seen a lot of customers using to add warmth to room is Walnut. This is slightly darker to Oak however is really rich down and would work from a more modern take on the floors.
