Need some ideas for window treatments! I back onto floodlights.
Comments (5)I'm not sure where the floodlights are mounted, but I'm going to assume they come from the adjacent properties behind you and your garden. If that's the case, you could consider planting some fast growing specimen trees or bamboo to filter the light before it reaches your house. You could also tend the height of your fence by attaching some trellis and growing a creeper across it. In terms of window treatments, bespoke curtains would be the most effective at blocking the light but they would also spoil to beautiful architectural lines you have in those windows and block some of the view so I wouldn't recommend that solution. Consider instead, a black-out roller blind in the same colour as the window frame to hang directly in front of the horizontal part of the window frame. The part of the frame is high-enough to shield anyone in this room from direct lights from your neighbours....See MoreQuick spruce of study, paint colour and ideas needed
Comments (1)Hello! This room is really small and since you use it for storage/office I would not advise you to go too brave with colours as they might make the room look and feel smaller. I know it might sound dull but I@d advise you to use white all over and either have mirrored doors covering the shelves you have there or a mirrored wall right in front of the desk, that will definitely make the room look bigger. Also, use plants because they add freshness as well as colour to the room and they're very relaxing. Most people don't realise that color can be added in many different ways not only on walls...sometimes the details can't be more striking such as a white room with a mirrored wall and a really striking office chair - orange, green, etc - plants, flowers, artwork, all can used to make a room colourful. You can also buy colorful boxes and put all your dvds, cds, books in them which will make the room look tidy and neater and add style and color. See some examples below: Hope that helps! Comments (23)The greys in the photo above do have a hint of blue in them so they won't clash with the worktop. If you want to be safe use the light grey with new handles, but if you want to be adventurous then paint the lower cabinets in the dark grey with new handles and paint the walls, shelves and tiles in the light grey to get the two tone look. The floor looks to be a laminate floor if you had the budget I would change it to a white tile effect lino to add some balance. I would also suggest binning the window dressings if the owner leaves them as the nets block out a lot of natural light....See MoreHelp needed with window colour and style
Comments (2)What a gorgeous house. I think that duplicating things is a good idea, so keeping the front door oak makes sense because it relates to the oak windows upstairs. You could then have oak windows, or, as Forzaitalia says a dark colour, but if going for a dark colour such as black or charcoal I would consider painting the bargeboards/soffits the same colour so it looks deliberate. You could also stain the upstairs cladding black which would look really smart next to the oak. Black can look a bit harsh next to pale render but I think it works really well next to brick....See More- 9 years ago
