Double sink, where?

I'm contemplating adding a double sink in the main bathroom. Shall I double it and install a double sink in the en suite as well? I'm in the process of a complete house refurbishment and I'm flooded wth dilemmas (nice problems to have, though!)

Personally I think it depends on the available space. I would prioritise storage over a second basin but great if you have room for both.

If you have the space and the funds, go for it! I love the idea of a his and hers sink . I would have his and hers bathrooms too!

Hello Rikita, Have you considered leaving the sink where it is on the island and then having a bigger island that morphs into a dining area... There are many more interesting designs for islands that are much more than a box with a few cupboards.. The sink situation currently I feel you would find more useful for preparation/washing and in addition a bigger island with dining could be fantastic.. Having that run of four cabinetry along under the opposite window wall from the corner as mentioned already could be of further benefit. Or consider a double height larder cupboard.. for food storage. So here are a few ideas about the island morphing into dining table.. Either cantilever or split level in either linear or other arrangements.. Hopefully gives you an idea of how creative you can be : )) This one works with the architecture of the space it's in.. The narrow nature of the room suggests a linear configuration. So look spatially at the kitchen area but the idea can be applied in many ways to fit the room so going outwards widthways towards the hand drawn pictured dining table.. You can then have dining chairs or integrate a bar stool seating area.. So really making the most of the idea of an island.. With a meter clearance from cooking area there is a lot more space in the room that can be used..

Hi Jennie, From reading, It seems like you have a good idea with what to do with the space. You're right with the right side being a little restrictive with what you can do... so in that case, we would suggest a run of units similar to the picture attached, less the appliances for safety, unless it were coffee machine, or something similar. This could be mirrored in some way on the opposite side (space/height permitting), allowing you to have the built in wall ovens.I also agree that the hob/ovens should be over on the left side, this should definitely be the quieter side of the kitchen with regards to traffic. I wouldn't suggesting running the units down the entire wall though, it can be expensive (what ever your budget), plus it doesn't really allow the kitchen to have an end. With the regards to the island, would you want a breakfast bar with such a space? Also, if you are looking at granite/quartz worktop, you'll need to bear in mind that they are only available to a certain size (3150 x 1400), some are slightly bigger. I would include the sink on the island, probably with the hob to make it near the ovens... depending on the style you are looking at and what the island needs to do for you, we could have a few ideas that you could work with. I think that by the end of this week we'll finally be completed !!!! We had the carpenters around yesterday to fit the skirting boards and put in a nice hardwood threshold and to fit door architraves etc. Sometime this week we should have the painters back to put a 3rd coat on the walls & ceiling, paint the skirtings & doors (F&B Worsted like the rest of the house) Then before the end of the week the builders are back just to finish the little things (the wire for the radiator needs to look better, either trunking or clipped neatly to the wall and painted) etc. We did the standard ceremonial trip to IKEA over the weekend and got the cabinets, blinds, shelves, picture frames etc (plus the obvious 150 tea-light candles that will never get used) It's within touching distance. I phoned the landscape people yesterday and given them 2 weeks notice to start their work as they need to hire a massive sump grinder as the one they have isn't big enough, and give them time to prep. now that the skip and builder have tidied everything up.

Sorry, I haven't been very clear there. No - the toilet is opposite the door at the moment - so as you go into the room it's straight ahead with a small sink next to it. I think the soil pipe goes off under the window to join the drain further along the outside wall. And yes - it's the size which is throwing me - too much choice about where to put stuff! I am also toying with the idea of making the water storage cupboard bigger - so I could possibly stick the hoover in there? I don't know! Ha!
